1.12.4 Resolving host names to IP addresses

If you specify Host Name for Type in the definition of a connection destination, JP1/AO performs IP address resolution when the service is submitted for execution. Specify a host name capable of IP address resolution by the OS. Host names defined only for jp1hosts or jp1hosts2 of JP1/Base cannot be used.

If you specify a host name for the type when you edit or create a service template, you must also specify the host name in the plug-in properties. However, if you specify an IP address for the type, you can specify either the IP address or the host name in the plug-in properties. JP1/AO automatically converts the host names specified in the plug-in properties to IP addresses and uses them at the appropriate connection destinations.

The following table describes the correspondence between the destination type specified in the definition of the connection destination, and how connection destinations can be specified in the plug-in properties.

When you specify a host name in the plug-in properties, JP1/AO uses the host name if it finds a definition of a connection destination that matches the host name. If there is no connection destination defined that matches the host name, JP1/AO converts the input information to an IP address. If the conversion process yields an IPv4 address, JP1/AO uses the IPv4 definition. If it yields an IPv6 address, JP1/AO uses the IPv6 definition. If there is no connection destination defined that matches the host name or IP address specified in the plug-in properties, the connection fails.
