1.6.2 Managing schedules

You can suspend waiting tasks or resume held tasks. You can also cancel waiting or held tasks.

Suspend tasks

You can suspend waiting tasks that are executed at a specific time or on a recurring basis.

The execution of the tasks and the generation of subsequent tasks are held until the schedule is resumed.

Resume schedules

You can resume schedules that have been suspended.

When you resume a schedule, tasks that were being held become executable again (they enter Waiting status) and are executed at the scheduled start time. If you resume a schedule after the scheduled start time, the task is executed immediately.

Cancel schedules

You can cancel waiting or held tasks that are executed at specific dates and times as well as waiting tasks that are executed on a recurring basis. When you do so, the execution of the tasks and the generation of subsequent tasks are canceled.

If you suspend or cancel schedules of waiting tasks that are executed on a recurring basis, subsequent tasks are not generated while the schedule is suspended. When the schedule resumes, the tasks are executed at the scheduled start date and time.

The following figure shows the behavior when the schedule of a waiting task that is executed on a recurring basis is suspended, resumed, or canceled.
