7.1.2 Deleting the expired packages

A package in the temporary package storehouse is stored up to the date (called the package storage period) specified in the packaging-information file and then deleted. If no date is set in the packaging-information file, the value (called the number of days to keep the package) specified in the settings file is valid. In this case, the package is stored from the date of packaging for the number of days specified in the settings file and then deleted.

A package is deleted automatically on the specified date when the power is turned on for the first time. If the system date changes during the startup of a UNIX machine, the package is deleted at the first remote installation of the applicable day. Normally, you do not need to delete packages on other occasions. If deleting packages once a day is inconvenient for regular operation, execute the rdsclr command of the client services.
