2.3 Package management

In the managing server, the registered software entities (packages) are managed in a directory called package storehouse as a resource file, and information about the software attributes is managed in a package attribute file. The package storehouse is a directory on the managing server for storing the packages.

In JP1/Software Distribution Client, the temporary package storehouse for relaying packages during distribution is also used as a package storehouse for registered packages. That is, all the packages in the package storehouse (temporary package storehouse), including those received from the upper-level managing server, can be managed and distributed under JP1/Software Distribution Client.

This section describes management operations using distributor tools performed for packages stored in the package storehouse.
