To collect inventory information, you can execute a job at the managing server or have clients report their inventory information. Because inventory information is reported only from those clients at which inventory information is updated, the network load can be reduced.

The following four methods are available for reporting inventory information from clients:

• Reporting from the Software Distribution - Update User Information dialog box
• Reporting from Package Setup Manager
• Automatic reporting of updated inventory information
• Reporting during automatic registration of system configuration
