To use Asset Information Manager Subset, you need to use a Web browser to call the login window and log in to Asset Information Manager Subset.

Notes

• After the initial login, make sure for security reasons that you change the default password for the JP1/Software Distribution administrator (user ID: dm_admin). We recommend that you also change the password periodically.
• Even in authentication using Active Directory, the user ID used for login must be managed as user information in Asset Information Manager Subset. Only the password can be omitted during login authentication using Active Directory. If a user ID that is not registered in Active Directory is used for login, the user information (user ID and password) managed in Asset Information Manager Subset is used for authentication.
  For example, the user IDs and passwords registered only in Asset Information Manager Subset, such as for the JP1/Software Distribution administrator (user ID: dm_admin), are managed by using the Asset Information Manager Subset database.
  

To log in to Asset Information Manager Subset:

1. Open a Web browser and call the login window.
   To call the login window, access its URL with the web browser. The URL of the login window is http://host-name/jp1asset/login.htm.
   The following figure show Asset Information Manager Subset's login window.

   User ID

   Enter the user ID.

   Password

   Enter the password.

   Login button

   Logs in to Asset Information Manager and displays the top page.

   Clear button

   Clears the values that were specified for User ID and Password.

2. Enter your user ID and password to log in to Asset Information Manager Subset.
   Immediately after installation, only the JP1/Software Distribution administrator (user ID and password are dm_admin) can use Asset Information Manager Subset. During the initial login, or if no Asset Information Manager Subset user has been registered, log in as the JP1/Software Distribution administrator. After that, use the Group and User job menu to register the users who will be using Asset Information Manager Subset.
   For details about how to register users, see 10.7.1(2) Adding a user.
   
3. Click the Login button.
   When Asset Information Manager Subset authentication is successful, the initial window shown below appears.

To log out from Asset Information Manager Subset:

1. Click the Logout link in the upper right corner of the window.
   When logout is successful, the message Logout was successful. is displayed and then the login window appears.
   From this window, you can log in to Asset Information Manager Subset again. To do so, enter your user ID and password.
   

Even if you do not log out, you are logged out automatically when the amount of time specified during setup elapses. If you have been logged out automatically, the character string The user has already logged out. is displayed when you execute a job from an operation screen, and then the login window is displayed.

You can set the automatic logout time using the Communication-less monitoring time option, which is under Session Information in the Server Setup dialog box.
