7.6.1 How to execute AMT's remote control facility

This subsection describes how to set BIOS using AMT Linkage and how to execute a diagnostic program on a client.

(1) How to set a client's BIOS

To set a client's BIOS remotely from the managing server:

  1. Start the command prompt at the managing server.
  2. Execute the dcmamtrc command.
    The client starts and the telnet window starts at the managing server. The telnet window displays the client's BIOS.
    For details about how to specify the dcmamtrc command, see 7.6.2 dcmamtrc.exe (AMT's remote control).
  3. Set up the BIOS.
  4. Finish BIOS setup.
    When BIOS setup terminates, the client is restarted; nothing is displayed in the telnet window.
  5. Close the telnet window.
    A message indicating that the command has terminated is displayed in the command prompt window.

(2) How to execute a diagnostic program on the client

To execute a diagnostic program on the client from a floppy disk at the managing server:

  1. At the managing server, insert a floppy disk containing the diagnostic program.
  2. Start the command prompt.
  3. Execute the dcmamtrc command.
    The client starts and the telnet window starts at the managing server. The telnet window displays the execution status of the diagnostic program.
    For details about how to specify the dcmamtrc command, see 7.6.2 dcmamtrc.exe (AMT's remote control).
  4. Terminate the diagnostic program.
    Depending on the type of diagnostic program, the client is restarted when the program terminates; nothing is displayed in the telnet window.
  5. Close the telnet window.
    A message indicating that the command has terminated is displayed in the command prompt window.
