- Add from software inventory dictionary
- If you choose this method, the Read from the Software Inventory Dictionary dialog box opens. Load the JP1/Software Distribution software inventory dictionary and set the Software Information Settings dialog box. You can specify conditions to narrow down the programs to be added. For details about how to specify conditions, see 3.2.5(2) Displaying only specified software.
- When you add programs from the software inventory dictionary, only data in the software inventory dictionary that is displayed for Software name and File name is loaded. If there is no data associated with Software name, the data associated with File name is loaded as the registered name.
- Change
- You can change settings for a program selected from Software list.
- Delete

If multiple programs are included in the software configuration definition, you can select specific programs to be deleted. If you delete all programs in the software configuration definition, the software configuration definition is also deleted.
When JP1/Asset Information Manager is linked, you can use the JP1/Asset Information Manager windows to check the number of software programs installed as well as the software operation status. To use JP1/Asset Information Manager to display the correct number of software programs installed, Software name and Software version specified in the software configuration definition must match the following information:
- For software that is acquired from JP1/Software Distribution installed package information
Package name and version
- For software that is acquired from JP1/Software Distribution software inventory information
Software name and version in the software inventory dictionary
- Organization of this subsection
- (1) Changing the software configuration definition
- (2) Notes on specifying the operation time to be acquired
(1) Changing the software configuration definition
When you double-click a software item displayed in Software list, the Software configuration definition dialog box opens. You use this dialog box to add programs to or delete them from the software configuration definition.
All software configuration definitions can contain a maximum of 500 programs.

- Software name
- Specify a maximum of 50 bytes for the software name. You cannot specify |.
- Software version
- Specify a maximum of 50 bytes for the software version. You cannot specify |.
- Add
- Adds programs to the software configuration definitions using Add by manual settings or Add by specifying the file.
- Change
- Changes the settings of the selected program.
- Delete
- Deletes the selected program. If you delete all programs, the software item is also deleted.
(2) Notes on specifying the operation time to be acquired
- It may not be possible to acquire the operation time of a program that quit immediately after it started, if the program quit too soon for the operation time to be acquired.
- When you change programs included in a software configuration definition and apply a new operation monitoring policy to a client, the operation time acquired by the previous operation monitoring policy may be added to the operation time acquired the first day by the new operation monitoring policy.
- The operation time can be acquired from a client whose version is 08-10 or later. If a policy that only sets acquisition of operation time is applied to a client whose version is 08-00 or earlier, the job will terminate successfully but it will not actually acquire the operation time.
- The program version is the File version that is displayed in the file properties. Its value might vary depending on the OS. If you specify a program version, use the value acquired by the same OS as for the client to which the operation monitoring policy is being applied. If you have acquired the program version automatically and its value differs from the one displayed by the client's OS, change the value manually.
