2.5.4 Automatic execution of a setup program after installation

When you install a user program on a remote client, the installation is completed essentially simply by copying files. However, some programs may require more than just copying files. For example, a program may need to be compiled in the real environment (may need to be linked to a library in the real environment). The files to be transferred during remote installation may be a program's source or object.

JP1/Software Distribution provides a feature for starting an external program immediately after installation. You can handle a unique situation such as this by specifying a compilation command as the external program to be started immediately after installation (such as the NMAKE.EXE command when using Microsoft Visual C++).

You specify an external program that is to start immediately after installation on the External Program page in Packager's Software Distribution Packaging dialog box or the Remote Installation Manager's Change Installation Conditions dialog box.
