2.5.2 Checking the software already installed on Client before installation

Some commercially available software requires a specific version of specific software. In such a case, you can check whether or not required software is installed. Or, you can set a condition such that the software is to be installed only if it is not already installed at the client.

These types of conditions are called software conditions. You specify software conditions on the Software Conditions page of Packager's Software Distribution Packaging dialog box or the Remote Installation Manager's Change Installation Conditions dialog box.

The following figure shows an example of checking the software already installed on clients before installation.

In addition to using the Software Conditions page, you can extract and install applicable software using the client counting facility. For details about how to use the client counting facility to extract the destination information, see 2.5.8 Installing on clients that satisfy specified conditions.
