This section describes how to set the asset number of new asset information when JP1/Software Distribution's inventory information is imported.
To set an assigned item for asset numbers, use the Assign Inventory - Asset No. dialog box, which is displayed by clicking the Browse button for Asset information.Asset No. in the Assign Inventory window.

In the Assign Inventory - Asset No. dialog box, select an assigned item.
- Auto (default)
Sets a number assigned automatically by the asset management system as the asset number.
- Get from the user inventory
Sets the value of the user inventory item as the asset number. To use this setting, make sure that the item name defined in JP1/Software Distribution's user inventory information is set.
- Host name (with domain name)
Sets the host name as the asset number. The acquired information is all converted to lower-case letters. If the host name contains a domain name, the domain name is also acquired.
If the acquired information exceeds 60 bytes, only the first 60 bytes of information are set.
- Host name (without domain name)
Sets the host name as the asset number. The acquired information is all converted to lower-case letters. If the host name contains a domain name, the domain name is not acquired.
If the acquired information exceeds 60 bytes, only the first 60 bytes of information are set.
- Working key
Sets the host ID as the asset number if JP1/Software Distribution is running with host ID, host name as the asset number if the host name is used as the working key, or IP address as the asset number if the IP address is used as the working key. The acquired information is all converted to lower-case letters.
If the acquired information exceeds 60 bytes, only the first 60 bytes of information are set.
- IP address
Sets the IP address of the hardware inventory information of JP1/Software Distribution as the asset number.
- MAC address
Sets the MAC address in JP1/Software Distribution's hardware inventory information as the asset number. The acquired information is all converted to lower-case letters.
- Computer name
Sets the computer name in JP1/Software Distribution's hardware inventory information as the asset number. The acquired information is all converted to upper-case letters.
Set the update method for the value selected to the item to be assigned to Overwrite setting.
- Machine serial number
Sets the machine serial number of the hardware inventory information of JP1/Software Distribution as the asset number.
If the acquired information exceeds 60 bytes, the first 60 bytes are set.
- Overwrite
Even if a value is already registered in the asset management database, it is overwritten with the value in the collected inventory information. If the applicable value in the collected inventory information is NULL or N/A, it is overwritten with the automatically assigned value (asset ID). However, no value is registered if Use asset number is selected for Assign key for asset information in the Server Setup dialog box.
- Overwrite (Not overwritten if NULL or N/A.) (default)
Even if a value is already registered in the asset management database, it is overwritten with the value in the collected inventory information. However, if the applicable value in the collected inventory information is NULL or N/A, it is not overwritten.
- Not overwritten
If a value is already registered in the asset management database, it is not overwritten.
