8.4.2 Notes on checking the job execution status

The following apply to checking the job execution status.

Organization of this subsection
(1) Holding results reporting from relay systems
(2) Disappearance of information about a host executing a job
(3) When the execution status of a job being relayed by a relay system does not change
(4) When software is distributed from JP1/Asset Information Manager
(5) When a message is sent from JP1/Client Security Control

(1) Holding results reporting from relay systems

When a job is executed from the managing server, clients report automatically the execution results to the higher system. For a job executed via a relay system, the relay system reports to the higher system the execution results in its own machine, as well as the execution results at the clients under its management.

If job execution results are reported from relay systems while the network traffic is heavy, the network may become overloaded. In such a case, you can temporarily hold the reporting of results from relay systems. To do this, execute a Hold report job with relay systems specified as the job destination. To restart reporting of results, execute a Hold-report release job in the same manner.

To determine whether or not reporting of the results from a relay system has been placed on hold, in the System Configuration or Destination window, select the applicable relay system, and view its status on the Attributes page.

If a relay system placed on report-hold status manages an ID group, the reporting of execution results of job with that ID group specified is also placed on hold in the relay system.

(2) Disappearance of information about a host executing a job

If information about a host executing a job disappears from the Job Status window, Remote Installation Manager (JP1/Software Distribution SubManager) in the relay system may have deleted the job being relayed.

(3) When the execution status of a job being relayed by a relay system does not change

For the following jobs, the execution status at Remote Installation Manager of the central manager does not change until the file transfer between the relay system and a lower system is completed:

#: The execution status changes if the check box for Report the split package distribution execution status of the lower system to the higher system. is selected on the Report To Higher System page in the setup of the relay system.

To determine the execution status of these jobs (how far the transfer has been completed), use Remote Installation Manager of the relay system.

(4) When software is distributed from JP1/Asset Information Manager

When software is distributed from a window operation of JP1/Asset Information Manager, a folder with the name specified during the setup of JP1/Asset Information Manager is created in the Job Status window, and the jobs executed from JP1/Asset Information Manager are displayed under this folder.

When jobs are stored in this folder, their execution status is displayed in JP1/Asset Information Manager's window operation.

(5) When a message is sent from JP1/Client Security Control

When JP1/Client Security Control sends a message to a client, a folder named CSCSendMessage is created in the Job Status window, and the Report message job executed from JP1/Client Security Control is displayed under this folder.

The Report message job from JP1/Client Security Control stored in this folder can be automatically deleted if it terminates normally. For details about how to automatically delete it, see 4.2.16 CSC Linkage page in the manual Setup Guide.
