To execute a job created in the Create Job dialog box as is:
- In the Create Job dialog box, choose Execute.
The job is executed and the Create Job dialog box closes.
If you want to execute a job on the basis of a specified time, you must first save it.
Jobs are saved in units called folders in the Remote Installation Manager's Job Definition window. The following is the procedure for saving a job and then executing it.
Jobs are saved in Remote Installation Manager's Job Definition window.
To save a job in the Job Definition window:
- In the Create Job dialog box, choose Save or Save & Execute.
The Save Job dialog box is displayed. You can resize the Save Job dialog box to the desired size. Once you change the size, the dialog box is displayed in that size from then on.

- Specify the folder in which you wish to save the job, and then choose OK.
The job is saved in the specified folder.
If you choose Save & Execute in step 1, the job is executed immediately after being saved.
You can check and execute a saved job in Remote Installation Manager's Job Definition window.

To execute a job selected in the Job Definition window:
- In the Job Definition window, select the job you wish to execute.
The selected job is displayed in reverse video.
- From the Execute menu, choose Execute Job.
The job is executed. You can also use one of the following methods to execute the job:
- Click the Execute Job button.
- Press F5.
When you press F5, a job execution confirmation dialog box appears. If you execute the job after selecting the Do not show this message again check box, the confirmation dialog box is not displayed when you subsequently press F5. To display the confirmation dialog box again, press Ctrl + F5 before executing a job.
If you save a job for which Server starts the job at specified date/time was specified on the Schedule page during job creation, the execution date setting for the saved job is changed to Server starts the job now.
This subsection explains how to search for a specific host from JP1/Software Distribution Manager's System Configuration or Destination window and execute a job at that host. In addition to searching using an IP address, host name, host group name, and ID group, you can also search using a date, such as the host's registration date and the last inventory information update date. When a job error occurs at a host, you can search for that host, connect to it via the remote control facility, and determine the error cause.

To search for a host by using an IP address, host name, host group name, or ID group as the search key and execute a job:
- In the System Configuration or Destination window, choose Options and then Find.
The Find dialog box is displayed. The dialog box displayed from the System Configuration window and the dialog box displayed from the Destination window display different items.

- Destination (only when the dialog box is displayed from the Destination window)
- Specify this item to use a destination as the search target.
- Host group/ID Group (only when the dialog box is displayed from the Destination window)
- Specify this item to use a host group name and ID group as the search targets.
- Find what
- Specify a maximum of 64 bytes for the character string to be found. Spaces and the symbols listed below are not allowed.
- \, /, *, ", :, !, |, <, >, ?, %, @, '
- Hosts names containing the specified character string are found.
- Find host names
- Select this option to find for hosts by using a host name as the search key.
- This option is disabled when the Find dialog box is displayed from the Destination window and Host group/ID Group is selected as the search target.
- Find IP addresses
- Select this option to find for hosts by using an IP address as the search key.
- This option is disabled when the Find dialog box is displayed from the Destination window and Host group/ID Group is selected as the search target.
- Find whole word only
- Select this check box to search for a destination whose name completely matches the specified string.
- Match case
- Select this check box to distinguish uppercase letters from lowercase letters. If you use Microsoft SQL Server as a relational database and have selected Case-insensitive for the sorting order, selection of the Match Case check box is ignored.
- Specify a search condition and click the Find button.
The program starts a search and displays the search results in the Search result list at the bottom of the dialog box.
You can resize the Find dialog box to the desired size.
- In the Search result list, right-click a destination to display a pop-up menu, and select the Execute Job menu.
The Define New Job dialog box is displayed. You can use this dialog box to execute a job at the selected destination.
This section describes how to search for hosts by using a date or range of dates when the hosts were initially registered in the central or relay manager, or the date or range of dates when inventory information was last updated. The section also describes how to execute jobs. For details about searching by using a date, see 9.1.2 Finding hosts by date and 9.1.6 Examples of maintaining the system configuration information manually in the manual Setup Guide.
- In the System Configuration window, choose Options and then Find.
The Find dialog box is displayed.

- Select the category of hosts to search for.
- The hosts made within a certain period
- The program searches for hosts that were newly added within the period specified in Date.
- The hosts that have had inventory updated within a certain period
- The program searches for hosts whose inventory information was updated within the period specified in Date.
- The hosts that have not had inventory updated within a certain period
- The program searches for hosts whose inventory information was not updated within the period specified in Date.
- If you selected The hosts that have had inventory updated within a certain period or The hosts that have not had inventory updated within a certain period, select the type of inventory information to be searched for:
- System information
- The program searches on the basis of the last date/time a Get software information from client job acquired information.
- User inventory information
- The program searches on the basis of the last date/time user inventory information was updated.
- Installed package information
- The program searches on the basis of the last date/time when a Get software information from client job acquired information with an option other than Search for a file specified.
- Software inventory information
- The program searches on the basis of the last date/time when a Get software information from client job acquired information with the Search for a file option specified.
- Software operation monitoring information
- The program monitors the software operation status and searches for the last date on which the suppression log or operation log was updated.
- Matching
- If you selected multiple types of inventory information, select all or any. Selecting all specifies that all the conditions must be satisfied. Selecting any specifies that any one of the conditions must be satisfied.
- Specify the dates that the search is to target.
- Range
- Specify both or either of the start date and end date to set a range of dates or a single date. The entry format is YY/MM/DD (where YY is the last two digits of the year, MM is the month, and DD is the day). You can specify dates within the range 1971/1/1 to 2037/12/31.
- If you specify either the start date or the end date, do not select the check box for the one you do not specify.
- For the past n months
- This item lets you specify the number months in the past from the current date as the search range. You can specify 1-999. However, if the start month is earlier than January 1971, the search range is from January 1, 1971, until the current date.
- For the past n days
- This item lets you specify the number of days in the past from the current date as the search range. You can specify 1-999. However, if the start date is earlier than January 1, 1971, the search range is from January 1, 1971, until the current date.
- Also find hosts that did not get inventory information
- When this check box is selected, the program also searches for hosts that have not acquired inventory information. You can select this item only if you selected The hosts that have had inventory updated within a certain period.
- After you set all search conditions, click Find by Dates.
The program starts a search and displays the search results in the Search result list at the bottom of the dialog box.
You can resize the Find dialog box to the desired size.
- In the Search result list, right-click a destination to display a pop-up menu, and select the Execute Job menu.
The Define New Job dialog box is displayed. You can use this dialog box to execute the job at the selected hosts.
This section explains how to find a particular host and use the remote control facility to connect to it. Doing this enables you to easily determine the error cause when a job error has occurred at a host.
To find and connect to a particular host:
- In the System Configuration or Destination window, choose Options and then Find.
The Find dialog box is displayed.
- Search for a destination.
For the search methods, see (a) Find by name and (b) Find by dates above.
- In the Search result list, right-click a destination to display a pop-up menu, and select the Start Remote Control Manager menu.
Remote Control Manager starts.
The Start Remote Control Manager dialog box is displayed in the following cases; when this happens, you should go to step 4:
- Select the host for which you wish to start Remote Control Manager and choose Start.
Remote Control Manager starts for the selected host.
You should note the following points when you are using host names as the ID key for operations in the computer that is running Remote Installation Manager:
- To connect to a selected host, the computer using Remote Installation Manager must be able to resolve host addresses.
- If you select one host only and its IP address is known, you can connect to that host by selecting either the displayed host name or the IP address. However, in an environment in which the IP addresses of connection destinations are assigned dynamically, you may not be able to connect to the desired host by selecting its IP address.
