6.2.5 Setup for collecting an operation log

If you want to collect an operation log, you must specify the events for which the operation log is to be collected.

(1) Collecting the operation log

You must select the check box in order to collect operation logs. The default is that this check box is not selected.

To collect an operation log, select the target events from the following list. You must select at least one event. In the system default, no event is selected.

You use separate windows to specify settings for collecting logs of Web accesses, print operations, external media operations, and device operations. For details about each setup window, see the following subsections:

(2) Filter Settings button

Opens the Filter Settings dialog box.

In the Filter Settings dialog box, you can set up filtering for the operation log to be collected. For example, you can specify that the operation log of a certain account not be collected or that the operation logs of only those files having a specific extension be collected. If multiple conditions specified in the Filter Settings dialog box are applicable to operation log collection, the condition that specifies no collection takes precedence.

The Filter Settings button becomes enabled when you select the check box for an operation for which filtering can be set. In the default, the button is disabled.

(a) Execute account page

On the Execute account page, you can specify the accounts from which operation logs are to be collected.

The settings on this page are enabled only when the following types of operation logs are collected:

Acquire Execute account other than those below
Option history is collected from those accounts that are not registered in the list box. This is the default setting.

Acquire only the Execute account below
Option history is collected from only those accounts registered in the list box.

The list box shows the accounts that are registered. A maximum of 100 accounts can be registered.

Add button
The Entry item dialog box opens, and you can directly enter the accounts to be registered in the list box. An account name cannot exceed 20 characters. Note that the following symbols are not allowed:
*, ", +, ,, :, ;, <, =, >, ?, [, \, ], |
You can register multiple accounts at once by entering their names separated with slashes (/).

Browse button
The dialog box for browsing user accounts opens, and you can select and register accounts.

Delete button
Deletes the selected accounts from the list box.
(b) Process page

On the Process page, you can specify the processes (programs) for which operation logs are to be collected.

The settings on this page are enabled only when the following types of operation logs are collected:

Acquire Process other than those below
Option history is collected from those processes that are not registered in the list box.
This is the default setting.

Acquire only the Process below
Option history is collected from only those processes registered in the list box.

The list box shows the processes that are registered. A maximum of 100 processes can be registered.

Add button
The Entry item dialog box opens, and you can directly enter the processes to be registered. A process cannot exceed 255 characters. Note that the following symbols are not allowed:
\, :, *, ?, ", <, >, |
You can register multiple processes at once by entering their names separated with slashes (/).

Browse button
The dialog box for browsing files opens, and you can select and register processes.

Delete button
Deletes the selected processes from the list box.
(c) Extension page

On the Extension page, you can specify the extension of the files for which operation logs are to be collected.

The settings on this page are enabled only when operation logs are collected for File operations.

Acquire only the Extension below
Option history is collected from only those files that have the extensions registered in the list box.

The list box shows the extensions that are registered. A maximum of 100 extensions can be registered.

Add button
The Entry item dialog box opens, and you can directly enter the extensions to be registered. An extension cannot exceed 250 characters. Note that the following symbols are not allowed:
\, :, *, ?, ", <, >, |, .
You can register multiple extensions at once by entering their names separated with slashes (/).

Browse button
The dialog box for browsing files opens. When you select a file, its extension is registered.

Delete button
Deletes the selected extensions from the list box.
