6.2.9 Setup for collecting print logs and for suppressing print operations

You must set whether or not print logs are to be acquired, and whether or not print operations are to be suppressed.

[Figure]

Acquire log
When selected, this option specifies that print logs are to be acquired. The default is that this check box is not selected (print logs are not to be acquired). When this check box is selected, the client PC's print logs are acquired. If print operations are suppressed, printing suppression logs as well as print suppression released logs are acquired.

Suppress printing
When selected, this option specifies that the client's print operations are to be suppressed. The default is that this check box is not selected (the client's print operations are not to be suppressed). When this check box is selected, print operations at the client are disabled and the [Figure] icon is displayed in the client PC's task tray. If a print operation is suppressed and JP1 events are set to be issued, a JP1 event is issued.
Specify a password that permits printing
When selected, this option specifies that a password can be used to temporarily release the client PC from print suppression. This option is enabled when the Suppress printing check box is selected. The default is that this check box is not selected (no password can be used to release print suppression). When this check box is selected, you must specify the password as 1 to 30 bytes of alphanumeric characters; this password is case sensitive.

A printer is being shared over the network, and there is a client whose OS is Windows Vista or later or a client on which File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is not installed
Select this check box if an operation monitoring policy distribution destination contains either of the following clients and a network-shared printer is used:
  • OS being used is Windows Vista or later
  • File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks has not been installed
When you select this check box, you can acquire print logs of the clients that satisfy this condition or suppress their print operations.
By default, this check box is cleared. It is enabled when the Acquire log or Suppress printing check box is selected.
Notes depend on whether this check box is selected or cleared; for details, see 2.5.4 Suppressing printing in the manual Description and Planning Guide.
