Organization of this subsection
(1) Package information
(2) Package type (required)
(3) Cabinet for saving package

(1) Package information

Specify information for identifying the package. The package ID, package version or revision, and generation you specify for the package must all be different from those of existing packages.

If the package type is Hitachi program products or Other companies' software, the package name, package ID, version/revision number, and generation number are displayed automatically and, as a rule, cannot be changed. If this information is not displayed, the package is handled as User programs and data.

Package name (required)
If the package type is User programs and data, specify a name for the user program or data to be packaged. The package name can consist of up to 50 characters. Note that a backslash (\) cannot be used.
If the package type is Hitachi program products, you can change the displayed package name. You can assign a package name that can be easily identified by end users.
Package name corresponds to program name in UNIX JP1/Software Distribution.

Package ID (required)
If the package type is User programs and data, assign an ID to the package. A package ID must consist of 1-44 uppercase alphanumeric characters, the hyphen (-), and the underscore (_).
The Package ID corresponds to the resource name in UNIX JP1/Software Distribution.
Do not use the following character strings for the header of a package ID. JP1/Software Distribution automatically assigns these character strings when managing software information.
  • BSA-
  • DPT-
  • SPC-
  • SUP-
  • WUA-
  • WUA-64-
  • WUA-SUP

Version/revision (required)
If the package type is User programs and data, you must enter the package's version/revision number as 1-6 alphanumeric characters (alphabetic characters must be in uppercase) and the slash (/).

Generation
If the package type is User programs and data, you may specify a generation number in addition to the version/revision number. Specify a generation number as 1-4 alphanumeric characters (alphabetic characters must be in uppercase). You can use the generation number to distinguish between packages with the same version/revision number.
If the package type is Hitachi program products, you cannot change the generation.

Maker
If the package type is Other companies' software, and a recorder file is used, or if the package type is Hitachi program products, the name of the maker is displayed.

(2) Package type (required)

Select the type of software to be packaged. If the type is Hitachi program products or Other companies' software, the appropriate radio button is selected automatically. In all other cases, the software is assumed to be User programs and data.

(3) Cabinet for saving package

Specify the cabinet where the package is to be saved. Once a cabinet is created, it cannot be deleted from Packager.

Cabinet name
Specify a unique cabinet name, as up to 32 characters. The following characters cannot be used:
\ / * " : ; space.
You can also select an existing cabinet name from a pull-down list.

Cabinet ID (required)
Specify a unique ID for each cabinet, as two characters (alphabetic characters must be in uppercase). If you specify a new cabinet name, you must specify a cabinet ID. If you selected an existing cabinet, its cabinet ID is displayed.
JP1/Software Distribution identifies cabinets on the basis of this ID. Cabinet ID corresponds to resource group name in UNIX JP1/Software Distribution. You can specify the same cabinet ID for Windows and (as the resource group name) for UNIX. In such a case, the two cabinets are assumed to be different even though they have the same cabinet ID.
