4.6 Managing a resource server

A resource server is a server used for controlling shared resources. If you do not use a resource server, you must use a separate shared resource for each server. When you use a resource server, you can share a single shared resource among multiple servers. A resource server is useful when the number of available shared resources is limited.

This section explains how HA Monitor controls a resource server. The following subsections explain the hot standby operation when a resource server is used, the processing flow for connecting and disconnecting shared resources, and how to determine a resource server's status.
