For Linux(R) (x86) Systems HA Monitor Cluster Software

1.3.1 Automatic hot standby

The function in which HA Monitor performs hot standby automatically when a failure occurs in the active system is called automatic hot standby.

The user must specify in advance for each host the operating environment, such as server and shared resource names, that is to be subject to automatic hot standby. In the event of a failure, HA Monitor controls the specified servers and shared resources on the basis of the environment settings and executes hot standby automatically.

The following figure provides an overview of automatic hot standby.
