The Message pane displays the following General items in a sequence:

Number of messages display setting spin box

Specify the number of messages to be displayed in the Messages pane using this spin box. The following are the values, which you can specify in this spin box:

• Default value: 100
• Minimum value: 1
• Maximum value: 400

If you specify an out of range value or a non-numeric value, then this spin box is automatically updated with the default value.

Emphasize new messages check box

Select the Emphasize new messages check box to mark the latest messages as "New" (for your reference) in the Messages pane. The latest messages are the messages received in the last three minutes from the current time. If you do not wish to emphasize the latest messages as "New", then clear the Emphasize new messages check box. By default, this check box is selected.

The Message pane displays the following action items:

Load default button

To load the default settings, click the Load Default button to display the Load Default dialog box, and then click the OK button.

Apply button

To apply the message settings, click the Apply button to display the Apply Settings dialog box, and then click the OK button.
