5.5 Create New Server dialog box (All Servers pane)

Use the Create New Server dialog box to create a Java EE server, web server, performance tracer, or clustered Java EE server. You can also create each server with an optional performance tracer and/or redirector relations.

The Create New Server dialog box displays the following Basic Information items in a sequence:

Server Type list box

Select the type of server to be created. The following types of servers are available:

  • Java EE
  • Web
  • Performance Tracer
  • Cluster Java EE

If at least one cluster exists in the domain, then the Cluster Java EE Server appears in the list. By default, Java EE Server is selected.

Dialog display area

Displays items dynamically based on the type of server selected in the Server Type list box.

  • If the selected server type is Java EE, then the dialog display area displays the options required to create a new Java EE server.
  • If the selected server type is Web, then the dialog display area displays the options required to create a new web server.
  • If the selected server type is Performance Tracer, then the dialog display area displays the options required to create a new Performance Tracer server.
  • If the selected server type is Cluster Java EE, then the dialog display area displays the options required to create a new clustered Java EE server.

If the selected server type is Java EE Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following Basic Information items in a sequence:

Server Type list box

Select the type of server, which is Java EE Server, to create a Java EE server.

Name text box

Specify the name of the Java EE server to be created. This is a mandatory item.

Node list box

Select the node on which the Java EE server must be created. By default, the first node in the list box is selected.

If the selected server type is Java EE Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following Related Server items in a sequence:

Redirector list box

Select a web server from the list of available web servers, to create a redirector relation. If the redirector relation for the Java EE server is not required, select the *Not Used* option. By default, the *Not Used* option is selected.

Performance Tracer list box

Select a Performance Tracer server from the list of available Performance Tracer servers, to create a performance tracer relation. If the performance tracer relation for the Java EE server is not required, select the *Not Used* option. By default, the *Not Used* option is selected.

If the selected server type is Java EE Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following action items:

OK button

To create a new Java EE server with optional redirector and/or performance tracer relation(s) selected in the Redirector and Performance Tracer list boxes, click the OK button. If all the mandatory items are specified, then this button is enabled.

Cancel button

To close the Create New Server dialog box without creating a Java EE server, click the Cancel button.

If the selected server type is Web Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following Basic Information items in a sequence:

Server Type list box

Select the type of server, which is Web Server, to create a web server.

Name text box

Specify the name of the web server to be created. This is a mandatory item.

Node list box

Select the node on which the web server must be created. By default, the first node in the list is selected.

HTTP Port Number spin box

Specify the HTTP port number of the web server to be created.

  • Default value: 80
  • Minimum value: 2
  • Maximum value: 65535

If a non-numeric or an out-of-range value is specified, then the default value is applied to the HTTP Port Number on focus out. This is a mandatory item. Only one port number can be specified in the Administration Console.

If the selected server type is Web Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following Related Server/Cluster item:

Specify the proxy properties for the redirector relation.

If the selected server type is Web Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following Redirect Server/Cluster items in a tabular format:

Redirect Server/Cluster Selector

Displays a header check box and check boxes for the servers listed in the Name column. If the header check box of the Redirect Server/Cluster Selector is selected or cleared, then all the check boxes of the Redirect Server/Cluster Selector column are selected or cleared respectively.

Name

Displays the name of all the available Java EE server(s), cluster(s), and Domain Administration Server (DAS). By default, this column is sorted in ascending order.

If the selected server type is Web Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following item:

Performance Tracer list box

Select a Performance Tracer server from the list of available Performance Tracer servers, to create a performance tracer relation. If the performance tracer relation for the web server is not required, select the *Not Used* option. By default, the *Not Used* option is selected.

If the selected server type is Web Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following action items:

OK button

To create a new web server with optional redirector and/or performance tracer relation(s), specified in the Properties text box and Performance Tracer list box, click the OK button. If all the mandatory items are specified, then this button is enabled.

Cancel button

To close the Create New Server dialog box without creating a web server, click the Cancel button.

If the selected server type is Performance Tracer Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following Basic Information items in a sequence:

Server Type list box

Select the type of server, which is Performance Tracer Server, to create a Performance Tracer server.

Name text box

Specify the name of the Performance Tracer server to be created. This is a mandatory item.

Node list box

Select the node on which the Performance Tracer server must be created. By default, the first node in the list is selected.

If the selected server type is Performance Tracer Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following Related Server items in a tabular format:

Monitoring target Selector

Displays a header check box and check boxes for the servers listed in the Name column. If the header check box in the Monitoring Target Server Selector column is selected or cleared, then all the check boxes in the Monitoring Target Server Selector column are selected or cleared respectively.

Name

Displays the name of all the available clustered and non-clustered Java EE and web server(s). By default, this column is sorted in ascending order.

If the selected server type is Performance Tracer Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following action items:

OK button

To create a new Performance Tracer server with the performance tracer relations selected in the Monitoring target Selector column, click the OK button. If all the mandatory items are specified, then this button is enabled.

Cancel button

To close the Create New Server dialog box without creating a performance tracer, click the Cancel button.

If the selected server type is Cluster Java EE Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following Basic Information items in a sequence:

Server Type list box

Select the type of server to be created, which is Cluster Java EE Server, to create a clustered Java EE server.

Name text box

Specify the name of the clustered Java EE server to be created.

Cluster list box

Select the cluster on which the Java EE server must be associated. By default, the first cluster name in the list is selected.

Node list box

Select the node on which the Java EE server must be created. By default, the first node in the list is selected.

If the selected server type is Cluster Java EE Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following Related Server item in a sequence:

Performance Tracer list box

Select a Performance Tracer server from the list of available Performance Tracer servers, to create a Performance Tracer relation. If Performance Tracer relation is not required for the clustered Java EE server, select the *Not Used* option. By default, the *Not Used* option is selected.

If the selected server type is Cluster Java EE Server, then the Create New Server dialog box displays the following action items:

OK button

To create a new clustered Java EE server with performance tracer relation, if the Performance Tracer server is selected in the Performance Tracer list box, click the OK button. If all the mandatory items are specified, then this button is enabled.

Cancel button

To close the Create New Server dialog box without creating a clustered Java EE server, click the Cancel button.
