3.5.14 Notes for Linux
- Organization of this subsection
(1) Definition of the /etc/hosts file
If you already has specified the IP address(a source of events) in the event source definition file (apmaddr.conf), you can skip this step. See 6.4.4 Event source definition file (apmaddr.conf) for details.
When you install the Red Hat Linux to a host, the loopback address, 127.0.0.1, may be defined as the IP address of the host in the /etc/hosts file. The definition example is as follows. In the example, linux01 is used as the host name.
127.0.0.1 linux01 localhost.localdomain localhost
In the monitoring of processes by the APM, some events will be issued to the higher manager. If the loopback address is defined, the IP address of the source of the event may be invalid value(e.g. 127.0.0.1). Therefore, the higher manager can't recognize which host sends the event , and can't monitor the status of processes correctly.
In the environment that is using APM, specify the typical IP address to the host instead of 127.0.0.1. The definition example is as follows. In this case, 172.16.49.18 is the IP address of the host.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 172.16.49.18 linux01
(2) Settings of Firewall
If you have chosen "High" or "Medium" for setting of the Firewall at the Red Hat Linux installation, you must set up the port for pass-through that is used for receiving SNMP messages from SSO. The port 22161/udp is used for receiving by default. Set up the port 22161/udp as a port for pass-through.
