6.2.1 Acquiring expanded software information

When the OS is Linux, Solaris, or AIX, Other companies' software / patch information in software information can be expanded as follows.

In case of Linux, the expansion is described on the following table.

Software Name

  • Up to 50 characters of information is acquired. When information exceeds 50 characters, only 50 characters will be displayed.

  • Up to 255 characters of information is acquired. When information exceeds 255 characters, only 255 characters will be displayed.

Version

  • Information corresponding to Version displayed in the rpm -qi command is displayed.

  • If the number of characters exceeds 6 characters, only 6 characters of information is displayed.

  • "." (dot) and "_" (underline) will be omitted, and alphanumeric characters is notified.

Example:

glibc-2.17-78.el7.x86_64 is displayed as "217000".

  • Values that correspond to Version, Release, and Architecture displayed in the rpm -qi command is displayed.

  • Up to 128 characters of information is displayed. If the number of characters exceeds 128 characters, only 128 characters of information is displayed.

  • The output result of the rpm command is displayed without being converted.

Example:

glibc-2.17-78.el7.x86_64 is displayed as "2.17-78.el7.x86_64".

Manufacturer

  • Nothing is displayed because it is not subject to acquisition.

  • Up to 128 characters of information is displayed When information exceeds 128 characters, only 128 characters will be displayed.

Install Date#

  • The acquisition date of the software information is displayed.

  • Install Date information displayed on rpm -qi command is displayed with YYYY/MM/DD format.

The Install Date notifications are based on the agent's local time. Therefore, if the time zone of Agent is different with JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager, there may be difference on the date displayed.

In case of Solaris, the expansion is described on the following table. To show expanded software information notified from Solaris on JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager, JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager version of either 12-00-07 or later, or 12-10-03 or later is required.

  • Last Install Time information displayed on pkg info -l command is displayed with YYYY/MM/DD format. If Last Install Time information does not exist, "-" (hyphen) is displayed.

Software Name

  • Up to 255 characters of information is acquired. When information exceeds 255 characters, only 255 characters will be displayed.

  • For Software Name of patch information, 1st field (keyword name) value of instfix command is displayed.

Version

  • If the number of characters exceeds 6 characters, only 6 characters of information is displayed.

  • "." (dot) and "_" (underline) will be omitted, and alphanumeric characters is notified.

  • Up to 128 characters of information is displayed. If the number of characters exceeds 128 characters, only 128 characters of information is displayed.

Install Date

  • The acquisition date of the software information is displayed.

  • Information that should be acquired by AIX does not exist, so "-"(hyphen) is displayed.

If you want to acquire expanded software information, perform the following settings.

  1. Specify EXPAND_SOFTWARE_INFORMATION=YES in the operating-environment settings file.

  2. Specify Expand_LinuxSoftwareInformation=YES in the jdn_manager_config.conf file of JP1 / IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager.

Before specifying Expand_LinuxSoftwareInformation=YES, be sure to delete the installed package information of the Linux device, Solaris device, and AIX device from the remote installation manager. For details about deleting installed package information, see the description of Deleting installed package information in the manual JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 Distribution Function Administration Guide.

After completing the setting, by notifying the software information to JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager from the Linux device, Solaris device, and AIX device you can display the expanded software information on JP1 IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager.

Important

If you have enabled the setting to acquire the expanded software information, Installed Packages tab of System Configuration window on the Remote Install Manager no longer displays the information of other companies' software / patch information. Check the information of other companies' software / patch information from the operation window of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager.

  • Template created on [Export Device List (Details)] of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager with the setting for acquiring the expanded software information disabled, cannot be used on environments where the settings are enabled.

    Create a new template in the environment where the setting for acquiring expanded software information is enabled.

  • To acquire expanded software information from Solaris device, Solaris 11 or later is needed as the OS. Expanded software information cannot be acquired from Solaris 10.
