11.2.7 Allowing multiple users to concurrently use JP1/AJS3 - View via remote desktop connections
JP1/AJS3 has a multiuser remote desktop connection function, which allows multiple users to concurrently use JP1/AJS3 - View via remote desktop connections.
If this function is enabled, the environment settings and log files for JP1/AJS3 - View are separate for each user. Because the settings and log files are output to separate files for each OS user, the file access permission settings in the OS can be used to prevent the files of one OS user from being viewed by other users.
The following table lists the items that can be set or managed for each OS user.

- #1
-
The settings file for each OS user is output to the following folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\HITACHI\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\conf\(osusers)\OS-user-name
The default value for %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is system-drive\ProgramData.
- #2
-
The other environment settings are managed separately for each JP1 user. The environment settings for each JP1 user are output to the following folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\HITACHI\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\conf\JP1-user-name
The default value for %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is system-drive\ProgramData.
- #3
-
The log file for each OS user is output to the following folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\HITACHI\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\log\OS-user-name
The default value for %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is system-drive\ProgramData.
This function can be used regardless of the version of JP1/AJS3 - Manager to which JP1/AJS3 - View is connected. If you want to use custom jobs and custom event jobs when this function is enabled, we recommend that you also enable the function that allows each JP1 user to use different custom jobs and custom event jobs. For details about the settings for the function that allows each user to use different custom jobs and custom event jobs, see 11.2.8 Allowing each JP1 user to use different custom jobs and custom event jobs.
- Specify from:
-
JP1/AJS3 - View-installation-folder\conf\ajs2.conf
We recommend that you set the appropriate access permissions for this file so that only administrators can change the settings in the file.
- Specification
-
Use the following format:
MULTI_USERS=NORMAL (return)
To enable the function that allows multiple users to use JP1/AJS3 - View concurrently via remote desktop connections, specify MULTI_USERS=NORMAL. If this entry is specified, the following message is output to a log file when JP1/AJS3 - View is started: KAVV3340-I The multi-user remote operation function is enabled.
If MULTI_USERS=NORMAL is not specified, or if the MULTI_USERS parameter is specified incorrectly, multiple users cannot concurrently use JP1/AJS3 - View via remote desktop connections.
By default, this parameter is not specified.
After changing the parameters for this setting, you must restart JP1/AJS3 - View.
Cautionary notes
-
For details about OSs that are supported for the multiuser remote desktop connection function, see the Release Notes.
-
Make sure that the OS user names of all OS users who use remote desktop connections are unique, even if their domains are different. Note that domain names are not included in the paths of the folders to which settings files and log files are output. Therefore, if two users have the same OS user name, their files are output to the same folder, even if their domains are different.
-
Make sure that the OS user names of all OS users who use remote desktop connections do not contain any reserved words or invalid characters such as periods or spaces that cannot be used in an OS user name for Windows. Also note that using an OS user name beginning with one of the following JP1/AJS3 - View reserved words (in any combination of uppercase and lowercase) might prevent log files from being output or prevent the settings in the Preferences dialog box from being specified correctly:
-
AJS (example: AJSxxxx)
-
HLICLIB (example: HLICLIBxxxx)
-
JBSONLSET (example: JBSONLSETxxxx)
-
CJOBREGM (example: CJOBREGMxxxx)
xxxx: Any character string
-
-
If you enable this function, use a different JP1 user for each OS user. Note that each OS user can use only one session of remote desktop connection to JP1/AJS3 - View at a time.
-
Estimate the memory size required for the OS user (including administrators) who uses the largest amount of memory, and then multiply that estimated size by the number of OS users. Then, set the resulting value as the amount of memory to be used for the entire system. For details about how to set the amount of memory, see 11.2.5 Setting the amount of memory used.
-
We recommend that you create the following folders and set the appropriate access permissions beforehand to prevent the folders from being viewed by other OS users.
-
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\HITACHI\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\conf\(osusers)\OS-user-name
-
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\HITACHI\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\conf\JP1-user-name
-
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\HITACHI\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\log\OS-user-name
The default value for %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is system-drive\ProgramData.
If you do not create these folders in advance, they are automatically created when you start JP1/AJS3 - View after enabling these settings. Make sure that the appropriate access permissions are set for the created folders.
-
-
If this function is enabled, the previous setting files and log files of an OS user might be able to be viewed by other OS users. To prevent this, back up and delete the following files and the folder (including the log files in it):
-
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\HITACHI\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\conf\default.conf
-
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\HITACHI\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2V\log
The default value for %ALLUSERSPROFILE% is system-drive\ProgramData.
-
-
We recommend that you do not use login information files, because passwords might be leaked to other OS users. If you want to use login information files, set the appropriate file access permissions so that each file can only be viewed by the appropriate OS user.
-
These settings do not apply to the uploading or downloading of common user profiles.
-
If this function is enabled, the ability to launch JP1/AJS3 - View from the following linked product and to launch the following linked product from JP1/AJS3 - View are not guaranteed. Check the linked product to determine whether this function is supported.
