The following figure shows the information that is input to and output by a command when it is executed.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Input information

To execute a command, execution conditions and details of the job to be executed are specified in command arguments and a parameter file. Some items can be specified in both command arguments and a parameter file, while other items can be specified only in command arguments or a parameter file.

Command

The name of the command to be executed and values of its arguments are input. In arguments, you can specify the names of parameter files and output files, and also define various execution conditions for the job to be executed.

Parameter file

A parameter file is used to write the information required for job execution, for example, the destination of remote installation and installation conditions. For how to create a parameter file, see 14.19 Creating a parameter file. You can input the output file (that is output when a command is executed) as a parameter file for another command.

(2) Output information

You can check the following information to know the execution result of a command.

Return code

The execution result of a command is output as a return code.

Output file

The execution result of a command is output to the output file that is specified at execution of the command. You can use this output file as a parameter file for execution of a command to acquire job status or re-execute a job.

(3) Note

When executing commands by using Windows Task Scheduler or JP1/AJS, carefully avoid specifying parameter files and output files in directories or folders in a network drive, for which users who execute commands do not have access permissions.
