9.1.4 Notes on executing remote collection
Note the following points when executing a remote collection job and using the unarchiver:
-
Remote collection might fail under the following conditions:
-
When the files to be collected by remote collection are being used on the managed computer
-
When remote collection is performed from a Windows network drive
-
When remote collection is performed from a directory without access permissions
-
-
The Acquire collected files from relay computer and Delete collected files from relay computer jobs specify a relay system or management relay server as the destination. If you specify an agent as the destination, an error occurs, or the job remains in a running state (execution status: 20%).
-
Some of the directories or files displayed in the Create Job dialog box or the IT Desktop Management 2 Unarchiver window might be deleted by another application while the window is being displayed. Even if any deletion occurs, the screen is not refreshed with the latest information. Accordingly, if you select a file or directory that has already been deleted, the File access failed error dialog box appears.
-
In the Directory for saving collected files field on the Collect File page, specify a directory on the server. Take special care when the management server and the Remote Install Manager are located on different PCs.
-
If you specify a non-existent drive in the Directory for saving collected files field, a directory is created in the JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager installation directory\mgr\temp directory by using the host name of the managed computer, and the collected files are stored in this directory.
-
Remote collection from a Windows system and remote collection from a UNIX system cannot be performed as a single job.
-
Note the following when executing a remote collection job for a UNIX system:
-
For the file to be collected, specify a path starting from the root directory. However, there is no need to specify a drive.
-
You can specify only one file or directory to be collected. If you specify more than one file or directory, only the first specification is valid.
-
For the collection path name, specify no more than 63 single-byte characters. If you specify more than 63 characters, only the first 63 characters are valid (but no error occurs).
-
For the path to the external program to be started, specify no more than 64 single-byte characters. If you specify more than 64 characters, only the first 64 characters are valid (but no error occurs).
-
The path to the external program to be started cannot contain spaces.
-
You cannot specify arguments in the external program to be started.
-
-
In the Directory for saving collected files field on the Collect File page, specify a directory on the local drive. Files collected by remote collection cannot be stored in a network drive.
-
The Target file section of the Collect File page and the IT Desktop Management 2 Unarchiver window do not support UNC paths. If you use files and directories on the network, allocate them to a network drive before using them.
-
The maximum total size of the files that can be collected by remote collection at a time is 2 gigabytes.
-
The maximum total number of files or directories that can be collected by remote collection at a time is 65,531. However, if the files or directories to be collected by remote collection include files with short file names, these files are also included in the count.
-
Do not log off from a machine while restoring the archive files collected by using the dcmcoll command.
-
If the restoration of archive files by using an unarchiver or the dcmcoll command fails due to the excess of the path length after restoration, a disk space shortage or such, the files that have been already restored might remain. In this case, delete the files manually.
-
If you execute Delete collected files from relay computer job while executing Remote-collect files from agent to relay computer job, the files still under the process of the collection will be deleted and they might not be collected by Acquire collected files from relay computer job.
Additionally, depending on the timing of execution of the job, the files still under the process of the collection might remain. In this case, re-execute Delete collected files from relay computer job to delete the remaining files.
