7.4.1 Creating cabinets

You can create a maximum of 1,296 cabinets by using the Remote Install Manager as follows:

  1. In the Package window, select File and then Create Cabinet.

The Create Cabinet dialog box appears. You must specify each item.

Figure 7‒45: Create Cabinet dialog box

    [Figure]

    Cabinet name (mandatory)

Assign a unique name to each cabinet by using no more than 32 single-byte characters (or 16 double-byte characters). You cannot use the following characters: \, /, *, ", :, ;, and whitespace

    Cabinet ID (mandatory)

Assign a unique ID to each cabinet by using two alphanumeric characters (alphabetic letters must be in uppercase).

    Cabinet type (mandatory)

Select Windows or UNIX, depending on whether the package to be stored was created in Windows or UNIX.

  2. After setting these items, click the Exit button.

Save the settings, and then close the Create Cabinet dialog box.

If you click the Add button (instead of the Exit button), you can continue creating cabinets.

Note that you can also create cabinets when packaging software from the Packager. If you assigned the same cabinet name to different cabinet IDs by mistake, invalid packages might be displayed in the cabinets. In such a case, change either of the duplicate cabinet names by selecting File and then Rename.
