2.2 Distributing JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent using the remote installation function
When you need to upgrade the software on a relay system or the agent, you can use JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 to remotely install the latest version of the software. The procedure is the same as for other Hitachi program products.
When JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent is installed remotely, it inherits the configuration of the previous version.
The following cautionary notes apply when using the remote installation function to distribute JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent:
Notes on programs and components
You can remotely install the components listed below. When you install JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent, you can select which components you want to install.

Close any JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent dialog boxes before starting the remote installation process.
Note that the following dialog boxes are sometimes displayed automatically:

Dialog boxes reporting job errors

Dialog boxes confirming deletion of shortcuts in the ITDM2_Startup folder that failed to start

Update User Information dialog boxes displayed at startup

JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 Job Suspended dialog box

Dialog boxes confirming shutdown or restart

The disk on which the agent software is being remotely installed must have three times as much free space available as the size of the JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent software.

Do not install JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent together with other packages.

To distribute JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent by remote installation, you must use the Packager whose version matches the version of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent.

When packaging the software or creating a remote installation job, in the Start external program area of the External Program page, do not specify an external program that starts immediately after installation or when an installation error occurs.

Installation might fail if you restart the computer or operate the JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent menus during the installation process. Clicking the Cancel button in the progress dialog box during installation will also stop the installation process.

If you have configured the system to not display dialog boxes during installation, the message telling the user that the computer needs to be restarted does not appear after JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent installation.

Refrain from executing the following jobs:

Distributing multiple packages with JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent included in one remote installation job.

Executing multiple remote installation jobs at the same time with the JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent remote installation job included.
When distributing packages other than JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent, make sure that the distribution of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent has been completed before executing.

To complete the remote installation of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent, perform any of the following method to restart the computer after installation has finished and before installing any other products.

Manually restart the computer.

Enabling Restart computer after installation setting when executing remote installation job of other packages.

You can check the execution results of remote installation in the Job Status window on the managing server.
The return code is the value of Maintenance code in the Detailed Information dialog box displayed from the Job Status window.

You cannot install JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Agent on a relay system or agent using Package Setup Manager on a managed computer by executing a Send package, allow client users to choose job.
