Procedure for modifying PFM - Manager or PFM - Base definition files
This section describes the basic procedure for modifying PFM - Manager or PFM - Base definition files. Note that the procedure might vary depending on the definition file. For details, see the descriptions of the individual definition files.
- Prerequisites
-
If you are logged in to Web Console, you must log out. When the definition files are modified, Performance Management services on the host will stop, causing PFM - Manager operations from PFM - Web Console to generate errors. Some PFM - Agent and PFM - RM operations might also generate errors.
To change a definition file:
-
Use the command jpcspm stop to stop all the Performance Management services running on the target host.
-
Make a backup copy of the definition file prior to changing it.
-
Open the definition file in a text editor.
-
Edit the definition file, and then save and close it.
-
Use the command jpcspm start to start the Performance Management services stopped in step 1.
- Note:
-
To restore the file to its original state, overwrite the definition file with the backup copy you made in step 2.
