1.8.8 Other notes
-
When you stop PFM - Manager, if PFM - Agent or PFM - RM stops at the same time or an alarm event is issued, the following message might be output:
KAVE00188-E An attempt to send an event has failed. (service=the service ID of the Trap Generator service or View Server service)
If the message shows the service ID of the Trap Generator service, the action (SNMP trap) associated with the alarm event might not have been executed. After restarting PFM - Manager, check the event history for generated events.
If the message contains the service ID of the View Server service, no further action needs to be taken.
-
In a situation such as a power failure, if a PFM service does not terminate normally, the service composition information file (jpcns.ini) might be corrupted. In this case, when PFM service is restarted, the service composition information file is automatically restored. However, when a command such as the jpctool service list command is executed, two service IDs might be displayed for the Trap Generator service.
<Recovery>
-
Delete the service ID of the unnecessary Trap Generator service.
- physical host
jpctool service delete -id Trap-Generator-service-ID
- logical host
jpctool service delete -id Trap-Generator-service-ID -lhost logical-host-name
Note: In this case, after the jpctool service delete command is executed, you do not have to restart PFM or execute the jpctool service sync command.
-
For a duplicated monitoring configuration, synchronize the primary and secondary nodes.
If the PFM service automatic restart function is set to the Trap Generator service, set this function again.
-
-
In a Linux environment where PFM - Manager is operated, if SELinux functionality is enabled, an attempt to start the PFM - Manager service might fail. In this case, the following messages described below are output to the OS system log.
SELinux is preventing folder-below-/opt/jp1pc/ message-output-by-the-OS. For complete SELinux messages. run sealert -l ID-output-by-the-OS
In this case, execute sealert -l ID-output-by-the-OS, and then follow the output messages.
-
When using the DLPAR (Dynamic Logical Partitioning) function in AIX to change the LPAR configuration, first stop the PFM - Base service.
-
When using the SMT (Simultaneous multi-threading) function in AIX, first stop the PFM - Base service.
