F.8 Notes on migration (version 08-00 or later)
-
For 09-00 or later, there are prerequisite patches for Solaris that must be applied. If these patches are not applied, the Performance Management programs will not start. For the prerequisite patches that you must apply, see the Release Notes.
-
When upgrading, do not uninstall old versions of Performance Management programs. If you uninstall them, you cannot use the report definition, alarm definition, performance data and other information created in the old version, because they will be deleted during the uninstallation.
-
When 08-00 or later of PFM - Manager has been installed with 07-10 or earlier of Performance Management programs, before uninstalling 08-00 or later of PFM - Manager, you must first uninstall the Performance Management programs other than PFM - Web Console.
-
When 08-00 or later of PFM - Base has been installed with 07-10 or earlier of Performance Management programs, before uninstalling 08-00 or later of PFM - Base, you must first uninstall the Performance Management programs other than PFM - Web Console.
-
If you perform an overwrite installation of Performance Management programs over existing ones, the following items are automatically updated:
-
Store database files for Agent Store and Remote Monitor Store services
-
The ini file
-
The PFM - Agent or PFM - RM instance environment in which a single PFM - Agent or PFM - RM monitors an application program that can start multiple services on a single host
-
-
If you perform a new installation of a Performance Management program, the status management function is available by default. However, if you perform a version upgrade installation from 07-10 to 08-00 or later, the settings status for the status management function remains unchanged.
-
When you install version 08-00 or later of a Performance Management program, the setting for the status management function is as follows:
-
After a new installation of version 08-00 or later of PFM - Manager or PFM - Base on a host that does not already have a Performance Management program installed
Status management function setting: Enabled
-
Other cases#
Status management function setting: Remains the same
#: The following fall under the other cases category:
-
Upgrading version 06-70 to 07-10 of PFM - Manager to version 08-00 or later
-
Performing a new installation of version 08-00 or later of PFM - Manager or PFM - Base in an environment where version 06-70 to 07-00 of PFM - Agent is installed
The setting status in this case becomes invalid, because versions 06-70 to 07-00 of Performance Management do not have the status management function.
-
-
Note that the location of the executable files for the Store service (jpcsto.exe and stpqlpr.exe in Windows, jpcsto and stpqlpr in UNIX) has been changed in versions 08-00 and later of the Performance Management programs. When you upgrade PFM - Manager and PFM - Agent to version 08-00 or later, the executable files for the Store service will be deleted from their former location.
