5.3.11 Changing the physical host name of the monitoring target of PFM - RM

Organization of this subsection

(1) If you do not change the monitored host name

You must change the monitored host name of the remote agent that corresponds to the monitoring target. Assuming that you change the monitored host name of the remote agent (instance name = inst1) from hostA to hostB, the commands are executed as follows:

To change the monitored host name of the remote agent that corresponds to the monitoring target:

  1. Execute the jpcconf target setup -key RMPlatform -inst inst1 -target hostA command.

This example executes the jpcconf target setup command in the interactive mode. You can also execute this command in the non-interactive mode. For details about the jpcconf target setup command, see the chapter that describes commands in the manual JP1/Performance Management Reference.

  2. Enter Target Host:hostB.

Follow the instructions to enter the setting items for the monitored host. When you are finished, press the Enter key to confirm the setting.

(2) If you change the monitored host name

You must re-create the remote agent that corresponds to the monitoring target.

To re-create the remote agent:

  1. Execute the jpcconf target unsetup command to delete the remote agent that corresponds to the monitoring target.

  2. Execute the jpcconf target setup command to add the remote agent with a new monitored host name.

Note that the performance data for the monitored host cannot be inherited.
