3.10.5 Notes on temporary files
- Organization of this subsection
(1) Temporary file output destination directory
The Agent Collector, Remote Monitor Collector, Agent Store, Remote Monitor Store, and Master Store services create temporary files in the following directories when you display real-time or historical reports in PFM - Web Console, or when you display event histories:
- In Windows:
-
The directory specified by the TMP system environment variable.
- In UNIX:
-
The directory specified by the TMPDIR environment variable.
If TMPDIR is not defined, temporary files are created in /var/tmp or /tmp.
The Agent Collector, Remote Monitor Collector, Agent Store, Remote Monitor Store, and Master Store services might output the KAVE00105-E message when there is insufficient disk space on the disk where the directory is located.
In this case, if you are unable to secure any more free space, you can change the directory in which temporary files are created by defining the following environment variable:
Environment variable |
Description |
---|---|
JPC_TMPDIR |
Specifies the path to the directory where temporary files are to be output. |
- Note:
-
In Windows, define the JPC_TMPDIR environment variable as a system environment variable. If you have configured Performance Management to start automatically in UNIX, modify the following locations in the service automatic start script file (jpc_start):
-
Before modification
export PATH SHLIB_PATH LD_LIBRARY_PATH LIBPATH HCCLIBCNF
-
After modification
JPC_TMPDIR=temporary-file-output-destination-directory# export PATH SHLIB_PATH LD_LIBRARY_PATH LIBPATH HCCLIBCNF JPC_TMPDIR
#: For the temporary file output destination directory, specify a path to a directory on the disk that has ample free space.
For details about how to modify the service automatic start script file (jpc_start), see the section that explains how to enable or disable the automatic service start feature for monitoring managers and monitoring agents (UNIX) in the JP1/Performance Management User's Guide.

(2) Estimating the size of temporary files
For details about the estimating the size of temporary files, see the Release Notes.
