JP1 Version 12 JP1/Performance Management Planning and Configuration Guide

1.2.5 Set a range that can be monitored by each user

As data centers and monitored hosts are consolidated as a result of virtualization of systems, the need arises to consolidate and integrate the operation monitoring systems that monitor these data centers and monitored hosts. Performance Management enables a single operation monitoring system to be used to monitor multiple enterprise systems by setting a monitoring range for each user's operation monitoring system.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Setting a monitoring range by business group

By setting business group as the monitoring range, you can monitor systems in units of business groups. Because the business groups can be configured in such a manner that each business group is accessible only by the user assigned to it, the integrity of information can be protected, operation errors can be reduced, and the independence of each monitoring system can be maintained.

For example, if business groups A and B are defined for business systems A and B, respectively, the user of business system A can access business group A, but not business group B in the same operation monitoring system.

You can also set a common business group that is to be monitored by multiple users by first configuring the applicable business groups individually, and then defining each user to also monitor the common business group.

(2) Importing business groups

You can import business groups that are defined in JP1/IM. If you are already monitoring systems in units of business groups in JP1/IM, you can also have the same users monitor the same business groups in Performance Management by importing the JP1/IM definitions of those business groups.
