A.1 Notes on GUI operation

The following shows notes on GUI operation.

Notes on browser operations:
  • Do not perform an operation that opens another window, such as clicking while pressing the Shift key.

  • Do not change the current page by using web browser buttons such as Back, Forward, or Refresh, or their shortcut keys.

  • When you log out of JP1/Service Support or reconnected with JP1/Service Support, the user name in the tool bar of the main window is updated. When your session time out and the login window is displayed, you log out of JP1/Service Support or close the browser window and, please log in to it again.

Notes on downloading attached files:
  • When an attached file is downloaded, ";" (semicolons) and "%" (percent signs) in the file name are replaced with "_" (underscores).

  • In the following cases, when a file is downloaded, the file name is converted into alphanumeric characters:

    - The file name includes characters that are mapped to UTF-8 but that are not mapped to the character set used in the operating environment.

    - The file name is longer than 232 bytes.

  • If the name of the file to be attached is longer than 254 bytes, you might not be able to select the file by clicking the Browse button.

Notes on text in HTML documents:

When an HTML document attached to an Item is downloaded, if you choose to open the document from the confirmation dialog box that is displayed, the HTML document is displayed in the download window. At this time, the text might be corrupted, depending on the character set of the HTML document. In addition, no scroll bars are displayed even if the HTML document is too large to fit in the browser window.

To avoid these problems, perform one of the following operations:

  • In the confirmation dialog box, click Save, and then open the saved document in another browser or application.

  • If text in the browser is corrupted, select the appropriate character set.

Notes on windows that contain drop-down lists:

In windows, such as the Create Item window, that contain items displayed as drop-down lists (such as person in charge and priority), if a drop-down list includes a very long entry, the window might not be displayed correctly.

Notes on clicking the Related information link:

If you click a Related information link whose specified URL is very long, a warning dialog box containing the text "The specified related information cannot be displayed" might be displayed. If this dialog box is displayed, close it, and then check the URL of the Related information link again.

Notes related to the print function of the browser:

After you perform either of the operations listed below, you might not be able to close the browser window by clicking the Close menu or the Close button. If this occurs, close the window by clicking the X button in the top right corner of the window.

  • Opening the Print Preview window by selecting Print Preview from the File menu, and then closing the Print Preview window by a means other than clicking the Close menu.

  • Right-clicking a link, and then selecting Print Target.

Notes on the Login window:

Depending on the environment, the Login window might appear when you try to perform an operation after an extended period of inactivity. If the Login window appears, log in again.

If a URL that is longer than the browser limit is specified in one of the functions below, the target of the link cannot be opened.
  • The Related links menu in the main Item Status window

  • The Options menu in the main List of Items window

  • The URL of the related information for the Item

Notes related to the output of accumulation data to a file:

If you specify multiple systems in the Output Accumulation Data to File window, you might be unable to download the file that is output. If you cannot download the file, select the All systems and then output the file. Then, manually delete unnecessary system information from the output file. If you cannot download a file, specify fewer systems, and then output the accumulation data to file again.
