JP1 Version 12 JP1/Service Support Operator's Guide

4.5.2 Creating Items based on existing Item information

You can create a new Item based on the contents of an existing Item registered in JP1/Service Support. This approach involves creating an Item in a New item window that inherits the Item information of the existing Item. You can also use a registered Item as the basis for an Item in a process of another system.

The following users can perform the operations described in this section:

#

If the option to set view permissions for individual Items is enabled for the target process work boards associated with the existing and new Items, the user can only work with Items for which he or she is an Item view permissions owner.

To create a new Item based on an existing Item registered in JP1/Service Support:

  1. In the list of Items in the main window (Item list), select the Item that you want to use as the basis for the new Item.

The existing Item must belong to a process work board that is in Operating status.

  2. From the menu in the main window (Item list), select New and then Inherit Content to Create an Item.

The Specify the registration target window appears. Only process work boards that are in Operating status appear in this window.

The following figure shows the Specify the registration target window:

  3. Select the process work board in which you want to create the new Item.

  4. Click OK.

The New item window appears, containing the Item information of the existing Item.

  5. Edit the Item information.

You cannot edit the System, Process, Item ID, Inter-process ID, Registrant, Registration date and time, and Update date and time fields.

For details on editing Item information, see 4.5.1 Creating Items in the New item window.

  6. From the menu, select Register.

The Item is registered in the process selected in the Specify the registration target window.

Important

When you create a new Item based on an existing Item registered in JP1/Service Support, the New item window does not inherit all of the Item information of the original Item. Also, if the automatic input of Item settings is enabled for the target process work board, the automatically input information has priority, which prevents the New item window from inheriting the Item information of the existing Item. For details on the inheritance of Item information, see the description of Item creation based on existing Items in the JP1/Service Support Configuration and Administration Guide.

Note

You can also use the methods below to start creating a new Item based on an existing Item registered in JP1/Service Support. Any of these operations displays the Specify the registration target window. Subsequent steps are the same as in the procedure above.

  • In the list of Items in the main window (Item list), right-click the title of the Item that you want to use as the basis for the new Item, and click Inherit Content to Create an Item.

  • In the Item preview area of the main window (Item list), click the [Figure] icon.

  • From the menu in the View Item window, select New and then Inherit Content to Create an Item.
