4.4.2 Using simple search

The following describes how to conduct a simple Item search. Only the following users can perform these operations:

#

If the option to set view permissions for individual Items is enabled for the target process work board, the user can only work with Items for which he or she is an Item view permissions owner.

  1. In the list of process work boards in the main window (Item list), select a target system or a process work board.

The scope of the search depends on the element selected in the list of process work boards in the main window (Item list).

When Process work board is selected at the top of the tree:

You cannot perform a simple search.

When a target system is selected:

The search applies to Items registered in the selected target system.

When a process work board is selected:

The search applies to Items registered in the selected process work board.

  2. Specify the search conditions in the simple search area of the main window (Item list).

Enter the search conditions in the text box in the simple search area. The search returns Items that are a partial match to the specified character string. By default, the system searches the Title, Overview, and Work status fields.

You can specify a maximum of three search conditions in a given search by default. Between each keyword, specify a half or full-width space as a delimiting character. If you want to search for a character string that includes a half or full-width space, use the Specify search conditions - Item-common element window or the Specify item search conditions window.

The search conditions are combined with the AND operator. To conduct an OR search, use the Specify item search conditions window. If you click Search without entering anything in the simple search area, the Specify item search conditions window appears.

In the simple search text box, you can enter a maximum of 300 half-width alphanumeric characters or approximately 100 full-width characters. Underscores and percent signs have special meaning in search keys, and are interpreted as follows:

    • _ (underscore): Any single character

    • % (percent): Any character string of 0 or more characters

For example, if you search for Items with the title a_c, the search will return Items with the title aac, abc, and so on. If you search for a%c, the search finds Items with the title ac, abc, abbbc, and so on. To search for the underscore character (_) itself, specify ?_ as the search key. To search for the percent sign (%), specify ?%.

Note the following when specifying search criteria:

    • Items for which you do not have view permission do not appear in search results.

    • Searches do not find Items that are in Waiting to be deleted status.

    • If the Item Management window function is enabled, the search applies to Items within the scope of the Item Management window.

  3. Click Search.

The List of item search results window appears, showing a list of Items that match the search criteria.
