JP1 Version 12 JP1/Integrated Management 2 - Manager Overview and System Design Guide

3.5.1 Launching linked products by monitor startup

The Intelligent Integrated Management Base allows you to start the application window relevant to the displayed information by selecting one of the JP1 events displayed in the Events area of the integrated operation viewer and then clicking Monitor from the menu, or by clicking the Monitor button in the Event Detail dialog box. This functionality is referred to as monitor startup.

Monitor startup allows you to directly display the window related to the selected JP1 event. For example, if you select a job execution event in JP1/AJS and launch monitor startup, the execution status management window for that job is directly called up without being routed through an upper-level jobnet window.

Directly launching an application window from the JP1 event that requires investigation can expedite the investigation work.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Prerequisites

In order to start monitoring of Linked products (JP1/AJS3 - Web Console or JP1/PFM - Web Console, etc), it is necessary to setting monitor startup for linked products. For details about setting monitor startup, see 4.19.1 Launching a linked product by monitor startup.

To launch linked products by monitor startup, "default_browser" must be set as the value of the EXEC_ID parameter in the definition file for opening monitor windows. Setting any other value for this parameter precludes linked products from monitor startup.

Furthermore, the Intelligent Integrated Management Base displays a relevant application window from the Web browser on which it is running, instead of starting the default Web browser used by the Central Console.

For details about the definition file for opening monitor windows, see Definition file for opening monitor windows in Chapter 2. Definition Files in the manual JP1/Integrated Management 2 - Manager Command, Definition File and API Reference.

(2) Operating monitor windows

From the Intelligent Integrated Management Base, you can call up a monitor window corresponding to the JP1 event displayed in the window. In this monitor window, you can view the details of the job or application that issued the JP1 event and directly operate that job or application.

By defining a JP1/IM definition file, you can launch the monitor of a linked product. Note that you can only launch one application from one JP1 event.
