7.9 Jobnet Flow PDF Output window

From the Jobnet Flow PDF Output window, you can output jobnet definitions to a PDF file as a jobnet flow image.

The following describes the displayed items.

Output whole job hierarchical tree

Select this option to output information for the specified unit and all its subordinate units.

Output n levels of job hierarchical tree. Specify n:

Select this option to output information for a specified number of hierarchical levels below the specified unit.

Specify the number of hierarchical levels as a value from 1 to 2,147,483,647. The default is 1.

If you specify 1, the system outputs information for the units directly below the specified unit in the hierarchy.

Insert a page break before a jobnet

Select this check box to insert a page break between jobnets.

PDF file name

Specify the target file for PDF output. Note the following when specifying the PDF file name:

• Make sure that the file name does not exceed 63 bytes, and the path and file name together do not exceed 258 bytes.

• Specify .pdf as the file extension.

• Do not use machine-dependent characters or any of the following symbols in the file name.

  \ / : * ? " < > | $ ` -

The default path and file name consists of:

The value specified in the Saved PDF file of map and jobnet flow output field in the Environment Settings window as the path, the date and time at which the Jobnet Flow PDF Output window was displayed as the file name (in the format YYYYMMDDhhmmss^#), and the extension .pdf.

Start

Starts jobnet flow PDF output.

Cancel

Cancels processing and closes the window.

When jobnet flow PDF output is performed for multiple jobnets, the jobnet flow images cascade downward.

The name of each jobnet is displayed in full, prefixed by Name:.

The jobnet flow image appears after the jobnet name.

A jobnet flow image can contain a maximum of 100 x 100 jobs per jobnet.

When you collect job operation information from JP1/AJS3 - Manager 09-00 or later, last update time appears at the top of the image only if you configured the system to collect it.

Cautionary notes:

• You can perform jobnet flow PDF output in an environment with Microsoft Excel 2010 or later installed.

• If a user without administrator privileges in an environment where UAC (User Account Control) is enabled, specifies a protected folder such as C:\Program Files as the output destination for the PDF file, the file might be redirected and saved to each user's VirtualStore folder.

  Files are redirected when the save destination is a folder in one of the following directories:

  • system-drive:\Windows

  • system-drive:\Program Files

  • system-drive:\Program Files (x86) (for 64bit Windows)

  The redirected files are stored in the following directories:

  • %LocalAppData%\VirtualStore\Windows

  • %LocalAppData%\VirtualStore\Program Files

  • %LocalAppData%\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)

  The default value of the %LocalAppData% is system-drive:\Users\OS-user-name\AppData\Local.

• In the following circumstances, only the full jobnet name is output:

  • There are no units to display in the jobnet

  • The unit is a root jobnet or manager jobnet

  You can check the definition items in the Job Operation Document Output window, or by outputting the information to a CSV file.

• Do not specify 1 for n in Output n levels of job hierarchical tree. Specify n: if you selected a job group in the unit tree in the Job Operation Document Output window. If you specify 1, nothing is output. Specify a number that includes a hierarchical level in which jobnets are defined.

• The jobnet flow PDF output process uses Microsoft Excel to output data to a PDF file. For this reason, the amount of information you can output depends on the maximum number of lines and columns allowed by Microsoft Excel. If the output information exceeds these limits, Microsoft Excel will terminate abnormally.

  You can find out how many lines and columns Microsoft Excel allows by viewing the Help or other documentation for Microsoft Excel.

• Do not use Microsoft Excel while jobnet flow PDF output is in progress. Doing so might affect not only the jobnet flow image information being output, but also any other files you are working on.

• If jobnet flow PDF output produces a cell in Microsoft Excel that contains more than 255 characters, ##### might appear as the cell data in Microsoft Excel.

• The jobnet flow PDF output process uses Microsoft Excel to output data to a PDF file. If the process outputs a piece (generation) of data to Microsoft Excel that exceeds 4,000 bytes, the jobnet flow PDF output functionality outputs × (The data has too many characters to display.) in its place. Each cell output to Microsoft Excel cannot contain more than 32,000 bytes or 255 lines of data. Data exceeding these limits is truncated, and information about the name and attributes of the unit that caused the problem are output to a log file (installation-folder\Log\ajs2po.log or %allusersprofile%\Hitachi\JP1\JP1_DEFAULT\JP1AJS2PO\Log\ajs2po.log). Take action such as dividing the input data over several jobnet flow images.

• You cannot perform multiple instances of jobnet flow PDF output concurrently, or perform jobnet flow PDF output at the same time as map output or map PDF output. If you attempt to do so, the tasks are processed sequentially in the order in which they were executed.

• You cannot perform jobnet flow PDF output if the default printer is unavailable.

  The jobnet flow PDF output process uses Microsoft Excel to output data to a PDF file, and sets the page orientation to landscape when outputting information to Microsoft Excel.

  If the default printer is unavailable, Microsoft Excel generates an error in relation to the printer settings and jobnet flow PDF output fails.

  In this situation, use one of the following workarounds:

  • Make the default printer available

  • Set a dummy local printer as the default printer

  • Delete all printers

  Note that if your default printer is a networked printer, the status of the print server will affect the availability of the printer.

• Jobnet flow PDF output will fail if the jobnet flow definition file specified in the Environment Settings window cannot be found. Make sure that the file specified in the Environment Settings window exists at the specified location.

• Some characters might be missing from unit names in the PDF files created by jobnet flow PDF output. In this case, use the Microsoft Excel form of the document.

• The processing time for jobnet flow PDF output depends on the rendering performance of Microsoft Excel. Images take longer to render as the number of units and relation lines increases. If the source information contains a large number of units or relation lines, you can split the units across several images or limit the number of hierarchical levels in the output data.

• If the items are not displayed fully in the print and print preview, you can extend the display area to display the cutoff items. For details on how to extend the size of the display area, see 7.19 Environment Settings window.

• Jobnet flow PDF output does not display legends. If you want to display legends, first configure the system to display legends in the Environment Settings window and perform jobnet flow output, and then convert the output Excel file to a PDF file.

• Line weights of arrows are determined according to the default setting of Microsoft Excel. Therefore, line weights might be different depending on the version of Microsoft Excel and your execution environment.
