3.2.1 Using the Hitachi Program Product Installer
The Hitachi Program Product Installer is stored on the JP1/AJS3 - Print Option Manager distribution media. This section describes how to:

Superuser permissions are required to use the Hitachi Program Product Installer. Log in as the superuser, or execute the su command to switch to a superuser account.

(1) Starting Hitachi Program Product Installer

Insert the JP1/AJS3 - Print Option Manager distribution media into the drive.

Mount the CD-ROM drive.
Execute the command as shown below. The command differs according to your OS. You can skip this step in Solaris. In Linux, the drive will be automatically mounted in some environments.
- In HP-UX:

/usr/sbin/mount -F cdfs -r device-special-file-name /cdrom
- In AIX:
-
/usr/sbin/mount -r -v cdrfs device-special-file-name /cdrom
- In Linux:
-
/bin/mount -r -t iso9660 device-special-file-name /media/cdrecorder
Note: /cdrom and /media/cdrecorder are the mount points for the CD-ROM device special file. If there is no mount point directory, create one. The device special file name and the mount point vary depending on your environment.

Execute the following command to install and start the Hitachi Program Product Installer:
- In Linux:

/media/cdrecorder/XXXX/setup /media/cdrecorder
- In systems other than Linux:
-
/cdrom/XXXX/setup /cdrom
XXXX differs according to your operating system, as follows:
In HP-UX (IPF): IPFHPUX
In Solaris: SOLARIS
In AIX: AIX
In Linux: LINUX
(2) Installing JP1/AJS3 - Print Option Manager
The following describes how to install JP1/AJS3 - Print Option Manager using the Hitachi Program Product Installer.
The initial window appears when you start the Installer.
Enter I in this window to see a list of the software that you can install. Move the cursor to the program you want to install, and then press the space bar to select that program. Enter I again to install JP1/AJS3 - Print Option Manager. When the installation has finished, enter Q to return to the initial window.
(3) Deleting JP1/AJS3 - Print Option Manager
Execute the following command to start the Hitachi Program Product Installer.
/etc/hitachi_setup
The initial window appears.
Enter D in this window to see a list of software that can be deleted. Move the cursor to the program you want to delete, and then press the space bar to select that program. Enter D again to delete the software. When the software has been deleted, enter Q to return to the initial window.
(4) Displaying version information
Execute the following command to start the Hitachi Program Product Installer.
/etc/hitachi_setup
The initial window appears.
Enter L in this window to see a list of installed Hitachi program products.
