11.5.2 Automatic distribution using JP1/Software Distribution (in UNIX)

Assume that Client Manager of JP1/Software Distribution Client and JP1/AJS3 - Manager are active at the package-distributed destination host.

To automatically distribute the package using JP1/Software Distribution:

  1. Make sure that the name of the target host has been defined in the hosts file of the distributing host.

  2. Execute the following command to display the package information:

    directory-storing-JP1/Software-Distribution-commands/rdsdmrsc -c

    The package information output in the following format after the command is executed is called a resource.

    When the packaging is performed on a Windows host:

    D.cabinet-ID.package-ID.version-number.generation-number

    When the packaging is performed on a UNIX host:

    C.cabinet-ID.package-ID.version-number.generation-number

  3. Execute the following command to generate an instruction:

    directory-storing-JP1/Software-Distribution-commands/rdsdmind -d -a distributed-host-name -s distributing-resource-name
  4. Execute the following command to execute the instruction:

    directory-storing-JP1/Software-Distribution-commands/rdsdmind -x
  5. Execute the following command to check the execution status of the instruction:

    directory-storing-JP1/Software-Distribution-commands/rdsdmind -c
