11.5.1 Automatic distribution using JP1/Software Distribution (for Windows)

Assume that Client Manager of JP1/Software Distribution Client and JP1/AJS3 - Manager are active at the target host.

To automatically distribute the package using JP1/Software Distribution:

  1. Make sure that the name of the target host has been defined in the hosts file of the distributing host.

  2. From the Start menu, choose Software Distribution Manager and Remote Installation Manager.

    The Remote install manager window appears.

  3. Choose File - New.

    The New dialog box appears.

  4. Select the System Configuration window, the Package window, and the Job Status window and then click the OK button.

    The New dialog box closes.

    The selected windows appear.

  5. In the System Configuration window, click Network and choose File and Create Host.

    The Create Host dialog box appears.

  6. Specify the target host name (a host name where JP1/Software Distribution Client is installed) and then click the OK button.

    The Create Host dialog box closes.

    The specified host appears in the System Configuration window.

  7. In the Package window, click the distributing package and from Execute choose Execute job.

    The Define New Job dialog box appears.

  8. Select Install package and click the OK button.

    The Create Job dialog box appears.

  9. On the Destination page, click the Add button.

    The Add Destination dialog box appears.

  10. Add the destination and click the OK button.

    The destination has been added and the Add Destination dialog box closes.

    If you want to redistribute a package to the host specified in the Destination page, click the package in the Package page, and then click the Change button to display the Change Installation Conditions dialog box. In this dialog box, on the System Conditions page, select Replace existing package.

  11. Click the Execute button.

    Distribution of the package starts.

    You can check the status of package distribution from the Job Status window.
