7.2 Specifying macro variables during registration for execution

This section describes how to specify macro variables during registration for execution.

You can also specify macro variables by using the ajsentry command, instead of using the procedure described in this section. For details about this command, see ajsentry in 3. Commands Used for Normal Operations in the manual JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Command Reference.

To specify macro variables during registration for execution:

  1. In the JP1/AJS3 - View window, in Function Menu, click Register for Execution.

Register for Execution is now selected.

  2. In the tree area, click the job group that will manage the jobnet you want to register for execution.

The job group you clicked is now selected.

The root jobnet appears in the list area.

  3. Click the target root jobnet, choose Operations, and then Register for Execution.

The Register for Execution dialog box appears.

You can select multiple root jobnets at a time by clicking them while holding down the Ctrl key or Shift key. Selecting multiple root jobnets like this displays only one Register for Execution dialog box for all the root jobnets you selected.

  4. Specify the registration method and options.

  5. Click the Pass Info button.

The Passing Information dialog box appears, and displays a list of passing information for the selected jobnets. For jobnets with no passing information, the column for this list is blank.

  6. Do either of the following:

If you want to add passing information:

    Click the Add button.

If you want to change or delete the passing information:

Select the applicable passing information, and click the Change button or Delete button.

When the Add or Change button is clicked, the Register Passing Information dialog box appears.

  7. If you have clicked the Add button or Change button, in the Register Passing Information dialog box, enter the name of a macro variable in the Variable text box and the passing information in the Passing Info text box.

For Variable, you can click the ... button to display the Variables Used dialog box, which lets you select a macro variable.

  8. Click the OK button.

The Register Passing Information dialog box closes.

  9. Click the OK button.

The Register for Execution dialog box closes.

The jobnets are registered for execution. If multiple root jobnets were selected in step 3, all of them are registered for execution with the same settings.

Supplementary notes
  • You can also specify macro variables in the Register for Execution dialog box that you open from either of the following windows:

    - Daily Schedule (Hierarchy) window

    - Monthly Schedule window

  • You cannot specify macro variables when registering a remote jobnet for execution.

  • You can also specify a macro variable in the Add dialog box (for root jobnets).
