6.4 Checking a defined schedule

This section describes how to check a defined schedule. With this procedure, you can check an execution schedule created from a schedule defined for an unregistered unit in the Monthly Schedule window.

The execution schedule of an unregistered unit will appear only when the following conditions are satisfied:

To check the execution schedule of an unregistered unit:

  1. In the tree area or the list area, click the job group that contains the unregistered root jobnet or the unregistered jobnet.

The job group or jobnet you clicked is now selected.

  2. Choose View and then Monthly Schedule.

    The Monthly Schedule window appears.

Note that when you select Schedule Definition in Function Menu, the Monthly Schedule - Confirm Schedule window appears.

  3. If you do not see a triangle indicating the execution schedule of an unregistered unit, select View and then Unregistered Schedules.

This operation displays the execution schedule of an unregistered unit marked with a triangle in the Monthly Schedule window. The next time you open the Monthly Schedule window, the execution schedules of unregistered units are automatically displayed. This setting is saved as a common setting for the Monthly Schedule window and the Monthly Schedule - Confirm Schedule window.

The following figure shows the Monthly Schedule - Confirm Schedule window that is displayed.

Figure 6‒2: Monthly Schedule - Confirm Schedule window

    [Figure]

  4. In the schedule area and the execution result list, check the execution schedule.

The following explains the schedule area and execution result list area.

    Schedule area

    • The schedule area displays triangles. Each triangle represents the execution schedule of one generation of a jobnet, and each triangle is displayed with the icon color that indicates not registered (default: None). When you select Display in Hold plan in the Preferences dialog box (General tab), the execution schedule of units for which the hold attribute is set is displayed with the icon color that indicates being held (default: Yellow). You can change the colors of the triangle in the Preferences dialog box. For details on how to change the colors, see 12.3.42 Preferences dialog box.

    • The period for which the execution schedule of unregistered units is displayed starts from the base time of the execution date when the Monthly Schedule window appears, or the execution date when the view is updated. If the start time of the selected jobnet is earlier than the base time of the execution date when the Monthly Schedule window appears or the execution date when the view is updated, the execution schedule is not displayed.

    • Click the desired triangle in the schedule area, choose View, and then Detailed Information to display the Detailed Schedule dialog box.

    • By clicking one of the display month change buttons, you can display the information for the previous or next month.

    Execution result list

    • The execution schedule of unregistered units is not displayed in the execution result list by default. For details about how to display the execution schedule of unregistered units in the execution result list, see 11.9.8 Displaying the execution schedule of unregistered units in the execution result list.

    • When you set that the execution schedule of unregistered units is to be displayed, the information of the jobnets or jobs that are being selected in the tree area appears in the execution result list. The information that is displayed includes unit name, start time, end time (always a - (hyphen)), and status (always Not registered).

    • When you click a triangle in the schedule area, the corresponding line of the information in the execution result list is selected.

    • When you click the day or week portion of the time area to move the selection frame, the information of all the triangles in the selection frame is displayed in the execution result list.

Example of checking the execution schedule

The following figure shows an example of checking the execution schedule of jobnet net01.

Figure 6‒3: Example of checking the execution schedule of a jobnet

[Figure]

Cautionary notes
  • When jobnet execution spans two days, the execution status is displayed for the execution start day only. Even if you have set a 48-hour schedule on JP1/AJS3 - Manager and display a jobnet whose execution start time is 24:00 or later, the execution schedule appears on the specified execution day (the first day of execution).

  • No execution simulation is performed while the execution schedule of unregistered units is displayed. The schedule definition information is displayed as is for the start time or scheduled start time. Even if there is a preceding/succeeding or upper/lower unit relationship, the sequence of the units is not considered. The following shows an example of an execution sequence that does not match the start times.

Figure 6‒4: Example of a schedule definition of preceding and succeeding units and the start time to be calculated

    [Figure]

Figure 6‒5: Example of a schedule definition of upper and lower units and the start time to be calculated

    [Figure]

Note that even though you select Monthly execution simulation, Simulation, and then Perform on the Schedule tab of the Preferences dialog box in JP1/AJS3 - View, no execution simulation is performed while the execution schedule of unregistered units is displayed.

For details about execution simulation, see 4.4.2(2) Execution simulation in the manual JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Overview.

  • To display the execution schedule of unregistered units, you need reference privileges for all of the units listed below. If you do not have reference privileges, the execution schedule is not displayed.

    - Selected root jobnet and the following units

    - Jobnet specified in Exclusive jobnet of Exclusive schedule in the Schedule Settings dialog box

    - Job group specified in Job group name of Refer to a calendar of another job group in the Schedule Settings dialog box

  • The execution schedule of unregistered units is calculated based on the time zone that is set in the environment variable TZ at JP1/AJS3 service startup. Therefore, when you register a jobnet specifying a time zone that is different from the time zone at JP1/AJS3 service startup, the schedule of the unregistered units does not match the actually registered execution schedule. For details about time zones, see 2.4.1 Time zones in the JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 System Design (Configuration) Guide.

  • When you select a job group containing multiple jobnets and then open the Monthly Schedule window and perform the following operations on only some of the jobnets, only the views of those jobnets on which the operations were performed are updated:

    - Changing the definition of the schedule information

    - Canceling execution registration for all generations

    - Prohibiting execution of all the generations of a root jobnet whose fixed registration has been completed

The execution schedule of a jobnet whose view is updated is displayed from the base time of the execution date on which the operation is performed rather than from the execution date on which the Monthly Schedule window opens.

For example, first suppose that you select a job group containing multiple jobnets for which execution has been registered and open the Monthly Schedule window on January 1. Then suppose that January 3 arrives without the view ever having been updated. When you cancel the execution registration for all the generations of some of the jobnets on January 3, the status of those jobnets changes to Not registered and the execution schedule from January 3 is displayed with a triangle. Also, the execution schedules for January 1 and January 2 are not displayed. However, for other jobnets that are displayed in the same Monthly Schedule window, the execution schedule is displayed from January 1, the date on which you opened the Monthly Schedule window.

  • When you select a planning group to display the schedule information, the schedule information of units in the planning group is consolidated and displayed in the schedule area and execution result list as described in the following:

    - The schedule information of units for which fixed execution has been registered only is included more than once on the same day

Schedule area: A circle indicating fixed execution registration is displayed.

Execution result list: The unit with the latest start time is selected and displayed.

    - The schedule information of both unregistered units and units for which fixed execution has been registered is included on the same day

Schedule area: A circle indicating fixed execution registration is displayed.

Execution result list: The unit with the latest start time among the units for which fixed execution has been registered is selected and displayed.

    - The schedule information of unregistered units only is included more than once on the same day

Schedule area: A triangle indicating Not registered is displayed.

Execution result list: The unit with the latest start time is selected and displayed.

Supplementary note

If the execution schedules are not displayed in the schedule area, perform the following:

  • Choose Edit, choose Schedule, and then change the following settings:

    - Schedule rule

    - Valid term

    - Exclusive jobnet

    - Refer to a calendar

  • Choose View and then Refresh to display the latest information.

The information in the Monthly Schedule window is not automatically updated.

  • To display the information about a month that has an execution schedule, either choose View, Change Display Month, and then Specify Month, or use the display month change buttons.

In the Monthly Schedule window, only the information for one month is displayed. If there are no execution schedules for the displayed period, set the display period to a period that includes the date that the execution schedule was created.

  • Choose Options, choose Filter, and then select Waiting to execute or Being held.

When you enable filter settings, the execution schedule of unregistered units is also subject to the filtering. If Waiting to execute or Being held has been hidden, the execution schedules might not be displayed.
