JP1 Version 12 JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Operator's Guide

6.2.1 Defining the monthly calendar information

To define the monthly calendar information:

  1. In the JP1/AJS3 - View window, in Function Menu, click Calendar Definition.

    Calendar Definition is now selected.

  2. In the tree area, click the job group for which calendar information needs to be defined.

The job group you clicked is now selected.

  3. Choose Edit and then Calendar.

The Edit Monthly Calendar window of the month appears. The current date is displayed in yellow.

When calendar information is defined in the job group that is above the selected job group, the calendar information of the upper-level job group is applied to the background colors in the Edit Monthly Calendar window. The background colors are as follows:

    • For open days: Light green

    • For closed days: Orange

    • For unspecified days: White

If you have defined calendar information in Standard week, that calendar information is applied to the background colors in the Edit Monthly Calendar window. The background colors are as follows:

    • For open days: Light blue

    • For closed days: Light red

    • For unspecified days: White

  4. Define open days and closed days of the month.

We recommend that you define open days and closed days in the following sequence:

    1. Define days of the week in Standard week (valid for all years and months).

    2. Define days of the week in the calendar area (valid for the particular month).

    3. Define dates in the calendar area (valid for the particular month).

When you click a day of the week in Standard week, a day of the week in the calendar area, or a date in the calendar area, the background color changes in the following sequence each time you click a day or date:

Days of the week in Standard week:

Light red (closed day) to light blue (open day) to white (unspecified day)

Days of the week in the calendar area:

Red (closed day) to blue (open day) to white (unspecified day)

    Dates in the calendar area:

Red (closed day) to blue (open day) to white (unspecified day)

If the definition of the standard week differs from the definition of each week or each date, the definition of each week or each date takes precedence.

  5. Define the calendar information of the next month if necessary.

To define, click the Next month button, and define the calendar information of the next month in the displayed window.

  6. Choose File and then Save.

    The defined information is saved.

  7. Choose File and then Close.

The Edit Monthly Calendar window is closed.

Example of defining calendar information
Define the calendar as follows:

In the year 20XX every Sunday is a closed day throughout the year. Only in the current month (May 20XX), all Saturdays and the end of the month (May 31, 20XX) are also closed days.

To define the calendar:
  1. In the standard weeks, click the column of Sundays until the column of Sundays in the calendar area is displayed in pale red.

  2. In the calendar area, click the column of Saturdays until the column is displayed in red.

  3. In the calendar area, click the box of 31 until the box is displayed in red.

The calendar information for May and June in 20XX is as follows after the calendar information is defined.

Cautionary note

Change calendar information when there are only a few tasks. While the Edit Monthly Calendar window is saving calendar information, the system suppresses the execution of the jobnets that are registered for execution under the scheduler service containing the job group whose calendar information you are changing. This could have an effect on tasks. However, note that, regardless of whether calendar information is being saved, a jobnet with a start condition is executed when the start condition is established if the jobnet enters the Now monitoring status before the calendar information is changed.

Supplementary notes
  • Multiple users can edit calendar information simultaneously. In this case, the last saved information is valid.

  • Calendar information is definable between January 1994 and December 2036.

  • The information defined in the standard week is valid for all months and years (January 1994 to December 2036).

  • By using the Edit Monthly Calendar window, you can define the calendar information for each month. By using the Edit Annual Calendar window, you can define the calendar information of one year on the same screen.

  • If calendar information of a job group has not been set, the calendar information of the upper-level job group or scheduler service is referenced. If none of this calendar information has been specified, an open day is assumed.

  • You can change the settings to display the Edit Annual Calendar window when you choose Edit and then Calendar in the JP1/AJS3 - View window (Main window). We recommend that you do so to make the display period the same for the window and the detailed information area. For details about how to change the settings, see 11.6.2 Specifying the format of the calendar displayed first.

  • For details about the Edit Monthly Calendar window, see 12.14.5(1) Notes on the Edit Monthly Calendar window as well.
