7.10.2 Procedure for changing an operation profile

The following describes how to change the settings in an operation profile.

Execute the ajsprofstatus command to check the status of the operation profile you want to change. For command details, see ajsprofstatus in 3. Commands Used for Normal Operations in the manual JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Command Reference.

Operation profiles are stored in the following environment settings file storage folder:

Organization of this subsection

(1) Applying or changing an operation profile

To apply an operation profile, follow the steps below. Use the same procedure to change the settings in an existing operation profile:

  1. Create a new operation profile or change an existing operation profile.

Create or change the operation profile, and save it in the environment settings file storage folder. For details about operation profiles, see 21.1 Setting up functions by using operation profiles in the JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Configuration Guide.

  2. Apply the operation profile settings.

Apply the settings in the operation profile as follows:

    • When the JP1/AJS3 service is inactive

Start the JP1/AJS3 service. The operation profiles of all the scheduler services configured in the host take effect.

    • When the JP1/AJS3 service is active (scheduler services stopped)

      Perform either of the following:

      - Start the scheduler services. The operation profile for each scheduler service takes effect.

      - Execute the ajsprofalter -m set command. The execution agent profile for the scheduler service you specified in the -F option takes effect.

    • When the JP1/AJS3 service is active (scheduler services running)

Execute the ajsprofalter -m set command. The settings in the operation profile for the scheduler service you specified in the -F option take effect.

(2) Disabling an operation profile

You can disable an operation profile temporarily or permanently, as described below.

(a) Temporarily disabling an operation profile

  1. Execute the ajsprofalter -m unset command.

The operation profile for the scheduler service you specified in the -F option is disabled.

Cautionary notes

You can re-apply a temporarily disabled operation profile by:

  • Restarting the JP1/AJS3 service

  • Restarting the temporarily disabled scheduler service

  • Executing the ajsprofalter -m set command

(b) Permanently disabling an operation profile

  1. Execute the ajsprofalter -m unset command.

The operation profile for the scheduler service you specified in the -F option is disabled.

  2. Remove or delete the operation profile from the environment settings file storage folder.

When you perform this step, the disabled operation profile will not be applied when you restart the JP1/AJS3 service or scheduler services.
