JP1 Version 12 JP1/Automatic Job Management System 3 Administration Guide

2.4 Backing up and recovering an entire system

If you use the commands and backup tools provided by the operating system to perform a full system backup and recovery, you need to perform a cold start of the JP1/AJS3 system after the recovery process is completed. By performing a cold start of the manager host, you initialize the registered execution-schedule information for jobnets and execution information for jobnets and jobs which ensures that the information is consistent between the manager and agent hosts.

If you would rather not cold-start the manager host for reasons like the need to retain saved generations of jobnets, you can perform a cold start on the agent side instead. However, because every agent host needs to be cold-started, consider the number of agent hosts and the system configuration before starting this process. The manager host must be cold-started if any jobs are running on it.

Before you start a full system backup and recovery, read the notes in 2.4.3 Notes on performing a full system backup or recovery.

In any case, perform a cold start on the manager host or the agent hosts. The procedure for each host is described below.
