4.7.2 How to use text area parts (guide area)
You can use text area parts effectively, for example, in the following cases:
-
The user needs to enter a number or characters.
Text area parts can be used for the input of not only free comments but also addresses and names.
-
The user needs to enter a number or characters according to specific rules.
Text area parts are suitable for the input of a string (telephone number or card number) that has a fixed number of digits. Text area parts are effective when you want to limit the type of characters that can be entered to, for example, double-byte characters or single-byte alphanumeric characters. If you specify settings to display an error message when an entered character violates the set rule, errors in the input by the user can be prevented.
Using the input data for other Guide Parts or external programs such as JP1/AO requires Plugin Parts. For details about Plugin Parts, see 5.3 Plugin Parts.
