4.6.2 How to use text box parts (guide area)
You can use text box parts effectively, for example, in the following cases:
-
The user needs to enter a number or characters.
Text box parts can be used for the input of not only free comments but also addresses and names.
-
The user needs to enter a number or characters according to specific rules.
Text box parts are suitable for inputting a string (telephone number or card number) that has a fixed number of digits. Text box parts are effective when you want to limit the type of characters that can be entered (for example, double-byte characters or single-byte alphanumeric characters only). If you specify settings to display an error message when an entered character violates the set rule, input errors by the user can be prevented.
-
Other Guide Parts, external programs, or JavaScript Plugins use the data entered by the user.
Plugin Parts are also needed to allow the use of user-entered data by other Guide Parts, external programs such as JP1/AO, or JavaScript Plugins. For details about Plugin Parts, see 5.3 Plugin Parts.
