2.11.2 Character strings that can be searched for

The following describes the character strings that can be searched for by using the Search tab in the Operational Content Execution Window:

• The following variances in search keywords are ignored:

  • Upper and lower cases of alphabetic characters

  • Character width (double byte or single byte) of alphanumeric characters and katakana characters (JIS X 0201 0xA1 to JIS X 0201 0xDF)

• Search data is searched for a partial match with the specified search keyword. For example, if the search keyword is , strings such as and are also hit. You can specify neither forward match nor backward match as a search condition.

• A maximum of 500 characters can be entered in the search keyword text box. Entering more than 500 characters causes an error.

• Specifying a control character (ASCII 0x00 to 0x1F and 0x7F) as a search keyword causes an error. Do not specify such characters.

• When you specify a search keyword that includes a space, enclose the search keyword by single-byte quotation marks (" "). Note, however, that specifying the single-byte quotation mark (") itself as a search keyword causes an error. The following shows examples of input using a single-byte quotation mark ("):

  • Examples of input that does not cause an error: " ", "Navigation" "Platform"

  • Examples of input that causes an error: ", "", "Navigation, Navigation", Navi"gation, "Navi""gation", Na"vigati"on

• A character string that includes a repeated pattern of characters whose parts include the same repeated pattern of characters will be hit multiple times.

  For example, if the search keyword is , and there is a static-text part , the number of hits for this part will be 2. (The string of first to third characters and the string of third to fifth characters are hit individually.)

• If you specify the same word as two search keywords (one consisting of only upper-case characters, the other consisting of only lower-case characters), the two keywords are searched for separately, and separate search results are displayed.
