6.4.1 Procedure for creating access permission groups

This subsection explains the procedure for creating access permission groups in the Access Permissions window. Note the following when you create access permission groups:

To create access permission groups:

  1. In the web browser, specify the following URL to display the login window:

    http://host-name:port-number/ucnpBase/portal/screen/TitlePortlet/portlet/ucnp/pane/-44Ob44O844Og55S76Z2i/layout_id/default/tab_id/-44Ob44O844Og55S76Z2i?start_editor=true&open_editor=true

    • host-name

      This is the host name or IP address of the J2EE server machine for Navigation Platform.

    • port-number

      This is the port number of the web server for Navigation Platform. It is the value of the ucnp.setup.server.cosminexus.hws.http.port property in the user setup property file (ucnp_setup_user.properties).

  2. Enter your user ID and password, and then click the Login button.

    Enter a user ID with Navigation Platform's system administrator permissions (the default is user1) and the password. The Operational Content Editing Window is displayed.

  3. Select the Access Permissions menu located at the top (header area) of the Operational Content Editing Window.

    The Access Permissions window is displayed.

  4. From the Access Permission Groups area, click the Add menu.

    The Edit Access Permission Groups area is displayed on the right side of the window.

  5. In the Access permission group name text box, enter the name of an access permission group.

    You can enter a maximum of 255 bytes of characters for an access permission group name. A character string containing control characters (ASCII codes 0x00 to 0x1F and 0x7F) is not permitted. Make sure that you enter the name of an access permission group.

  6. From the Role drop-down list under Add User or Group, select an access permission type.

    For details about the operations permitted for each access permission type (role), see the window that is displayed by clicking the icon that is displayed next to the header of the drop-down list.

  7. From the Target drop-down list, select the range for which the access permission is to be set.

    If you want to set access permission for a user

    Select User.

    If you want to set access permission for a group

    Select Group.

    If you want to set access permission for all users

    Select All.

    User means a user who can log in to Navigation Platform.

    Group means a group that has been registered in the directory server.

  8. If the target is not All, enter in the ID text box the ID of the user or the group for which you want to set the access permission.

    You can enter a maximum of 254 bytes of characters as an ID. If the target is not All, entry of this item is mandatory. Note that a character string containing control characters (ASCII codes 0x00 to 0x1F and 0x7F) is not permitted.

  9. Click the Add button.

    The definition of the access permission is displayed in Users and Groups.

    To set the access permission for another target, repeat steps 6 to 9.

  10. Click the OK button.

    The information displayed in Users and Groups is saved and the access permission group name entered in step 5 is displayed in the Access Permission Groups area.

Note

If you click a menu in the Access Permission Groups area while you are editing an access permission group in the Edit Access Permission Groups area, a message is displayed asking whether the current access permission group that has not been saved is to be discarded. In such a case, handle this message as follows:

  • To not save the current access permission group that is being edited

    Click the OK button in the dialog box.

  • To save the current access permission group that is being edited

    Click the Cancel button in the dialog box.

    After that, click the OK button in the Edit Access Permission Groups window to save the current access permission group that is being edited, and then click the Add menu or the Delete menu.
